HER KIDNAPPERS
Bryson skipped work, consumed by worry over Mia's mysterious absence. He tried her number again, only to find it switched off. With a growing sense of unease, he drove to her apartment.
Upon entering, he found Nora slumped on the floor, tears streaming down her puffy face. Her usually radiant complexion now looked pale and sickly. Bryson's heart ached as he rushed to her side.
"Nora, you still haven't heard from Mia? Don't cry, I'll find her, I promise," Bryson soothed, enveloping her in a warm bear hug.
Nora buried her face in his chest, her body shaking with sobs. They sat together for a moment, until the door burst open and Dylan stumbled in, his eyes wild.
Dylan's clothes were bloodied, his limp evident. Nora sprang up, grasping his shirt. "Dylan, where's Mia? Did you harm her? What happened to you?" she demanded, anguish etched on her face.
Bryson's eyes widened at Dylan's battered state. "Dylan, what's wrong? Are you alright?"
Dylan pushed Nora away and confronted Bryson, his voice trembling with rage. "You're asking me that? You're the reason for this! You're responsible for everything, and yet you're here, comforting her best friend. You're insane!"
Nora grasped Dylan's shirt again. "Where's Mia?" she cried, her breathing rapid.
Dylan's anger boiled over. "Mia and I were kidnapped yesterday. They nearly killed me. I escaped, but they shot me. I went through hell, and I'll save Mia, no matter what. If anything happens to her, I'll never forgive you two!"
With that, Dylan stormed out, leaving Bryson and Nora stunned.
The door swung open, and Husayn rushed in, concern etched on his face. "Nora, what's wrong? You scared me," he asked, pulling her into a tight hug.
Nora's tears flowed anew. Mason's words echoed in her mind: "Mia's been kidnapped."
"Mia's been kidnapped, I need to find her" Bryson said and sprinted out of the house. "I'll go with you, you might be in danger" Husayn shouted, chasing after him.
"Wait for me!" Nora cried, running after them.
Mia regained consciousness in her dingy cell. The bright light overhead pierced her eyes, and her bound hands throbbed in pain. She coughed, spitting blood.
"I'm dying," she whispered, tears streaming down her face. "Bryson, I miss you."
The door creaked open, and Mia's eyes widened in shock. Mason and Sophia were standing right in front of her, glaring at her.
"Mason? Sophia?" she stammered, incredulous.
Mason's sly smile twisted his face. "Surprised to see me, baby?" He bent down, grasping her chin roughly.
Mia's eyes brimmed with tears. "You're enjoying this, aren't you? You'll be six feets under in no time" Mason said.
Sophia intervened, her voice laced with disgust. "We agreed to teach her a lesson, not kill her."
Mason chuckled. "Lessons are for storybooks. I silence people forever."
"Don't touch her! I'll be back" Sophia stormed out, furious.
Mia pleaded, desperation creeping into her voice. "Mason, please forgive me. Don't kill me."
Mason's eyes gleamed with sadistic pleasure. "You're begging? Where's that fiery Mia who defended her boyfriend?"
Mia's tears flowed. "I was naive. Please."
Mason's lips curled. "Too late, baby. We're ending this."
He pecked her lips, and Mia's anger flared. If her hands were free, she would have slapped him.
"Bryson always gets the best without even struggling for it, why?" Mason sneered, licking her face.
Mia spat on his face. "He's far better than you! You are nothing but a pathetic loser" She yelled.
Mason's fury boiled over. He slapped Mia, sending her reeling.
"How dare you?" he snarled.
Mia's defiance remained unwavering. "Bryson's the love of my life. You're just an animal."
Mason's anger blinded him, but his phone rang, interrupting his rage.
He glared at Mia before answering the call and storming out.
