DYLAN'S ESCAPE
Mason was drifting off to sleep when his phone jolted him awake. "What the heck? Who's calling at this hour?" he muttered, irritation etched on his face.
He picked up the call, seeing it was sophia and frowned.
"Yes?" he answered, his voice laced with sleep.
"Still sleeping, Mason? I was out working on your plan just minutes ago," Sophia's shrill voice pierced through the line.
Mason winced. "Easy, Sophia, no need to shatter my eardrums."
"I've got Mia right where I want her, but those incompetent men you hired brought an unwanted guest," Sophia continued.
Mason's grogginess vanished. "What? They've been kidnapped? Eliminate them both, immediately!" he barked.
Sophia's laughter echoed through the line. "You're joking, right? I'm teaching Mia a lesson, not killing her."
The call ended and Mason clenched his fists in anger. His face twisted in rage. "That treacherous woman! I'll get rid of you all," he snarled, grinding his teeth.
Nora pulled up to Dylan's apartment, her anxiety palpable. She leapt out and rushed to the door, only to find it locked.
"Dylan, open up! I'll break this door down!" she shouted, but silence greeted her.
As she reached for the doorbell, the door swung open, revealing Kyle, his eyes lecherous.
"Hey, beautiful," Kyle drawled, his lips curling into a sly smile.
Nora's gaze narrowed. "Where's Dylan?" she demanded.
Kyle chuckled. "Calm down, lovely. Let's discuss inside."
Nora's anger flared. "Tell me where Dylan is, or I'll break that thick skull of yours!"
Kyle sighed, his smile undeterred. "You're a fiery one, just my type. I love crazy women; they're wild in bed. Why not spend the night with me? Dylan's only interested in Mia."
Nora's ire intensified, her breathing rapid. She forced herself to calm down.
"I'm Mia's friend, and I can't find her," she explained, struggling to maintain a steady voice.
His gaze lingered on Nora, his lips curling into a lecherous smile. "I must admit, you're stunning. I've never seen anyone like you."
Nora's annoyance flared, her hair ruffled in frustration. "I haven't seen Dylan since noon. His phone's off, and I've searched everywhere. I'll resume searching tomorrow."
Kyle's tone shifted to concern. "That's what happened to Mia. What's going on? Is Dylan involved?" Nora thought, her unease grew. "Dylan would never harm Mia; he loves her. Baby I feel so lonely here alone, please stay with me tonight?"
Nora rolled her eyes, attempting to leave, but Kyle blocked her path. He pulled her close, and Nora's anger boiled over. She pushed him roughly to the floor, his face bruised from the fall.
"You bitch!" Kyle yelled.
Nora retorted, "You're lucky my boyfriend isn't here! You and Dylan are alike – shameless!" She stormed off.
At home, Nora collapsed on the floor, tears streaming down her face. "Mia, where are you? I miss you, baby."
Dylan's excitement surged as the rope fell from his hands. "Mia, baby, we're getting out!" He freed his legs and ran towards the door trying to open it but it was locked and luckily for him, the door was opened and he faced one of his kidnappers.
The man's eyes widened, shocked by Dylan's freedom. Dylan concealed the knife behind his back.
"How did you escape?" the man demanded.
Dylan smirked. "Do I owe you explanations?"
The man drew a gun, but Dylan's martial arts training kicked in. He kicked the gun from the man's hand and seized it.
A gunshot echoed, and the man crumpled to the ground.
Dylan sprinted out, spotting Mia's room. Men emerged from nowhere, chasing him.
"Mia, I'll come back!" Dylan shouted, leaping through a window.
Mia, trembling in her room, heard the gunshot. "Dylan!" she cried out, but only silence replied.
A masked figure entered and walked towards her, his face contorted with rage as he slapped her. "Your boyfriend escaped. If we don't find him, you're dead."
Mia was glad to hear this, the masked figure gave her a scornful look before going out of the room.
Mia smiled weakly, her thoughts filled with love. "I'm glad you escaped, Dylan. I love you, Nora, Mum, Alvin, and Bryson. Till we meet again."
As darkness claimed her, Mia's faint smile lingered.
