MIA AND DYLAN GOT KIDNAPPED
A week later...
Mason struggled to focus on his work, his mind wandering. He sighed, shutting his eyes momentarily. The door swung open, and he snapped them back into attention.
Sophia Bridgerton stood before him, her presence astonishing.
"Sophia Bridgerton?" Mason muttered, incredulous.
Mason's surprise turned to delight as Sophia smirked, settling into the chair opposite him.
"I've reconsidered," Sophia announced, her gaze piercing. "But let's clarify – we're teaching Mia a lesson, not taking her life. I won't have blood on my conscience."
Mason chuckled, intrigued by Sophia's sudden change of heart. "Why spare her? Eliminating Mia would eliminate the threat."
Sophia's icy stare silenced him. "Speak for yourself, Mason. Are you in or out?"
Mason's grin returned. "As business partners, let's keep things amicable. It'll facilitate our plans."
Sophia rolled her eyes. "Enough small talk. What's the plan?"
Mason leaned in, his whispered words sending shivers down Sophia's spine.
"I guess I still have an effect on you," Mason smirked.
Sophia's curt response was all business. "Deal."
With that, she exited the office, leaving Mason ecstatic.
"Yes! Things are falling into place," he exclaimed, triumphant.
Days passed...
It was a leisurely weekend, and Nora and Mia were tackling household chores neglected during the week. As the day wore on, Nora's exhaustion caught up, and she began to doze.
"I'll step out for a moment, Nora. I won't be long," Mia said, receiving a sleepy nod in response.
Mia strolled down the street, completing her errands at the local store. On her return, she encountered Dylan, who had already spotted her.
"No need to hide, baby," Dylan said with a chuckle. "What do you want?" Mia asked, rolling her eyes.
"I want you, and you know it," Dylan replied, flashing a weak smile.
"In your dreams," Mia retorted, attempting to walk away. Dylan blocked her path.
"What's your problem, Dylan?" Mia asked, irritation creeping into her voice.
"You are my problem, Mia. I loved and cared for you, but do you even love me? You broke up with me and swiftly moved on to Bryson, disregarding my feelings,"
Dylan's anger boiled over. "You're callous, Mia! You've made it clear you're done with me, but I won't give up. I love you, regardless of your current relationship. Please, come back to me. I'll change for you," he implored, his voice cracking.
Mia's expression twisted in disgust. "Dylan, you desperately need psychiatric help!" she exclaimed.
As she turned to leave, a black car screeched to a halt, blocking her path. Mia's fury turned to shock.
"Who's this reckless driver? Move your car!" she yelled.
Dylan approached, equally startled. "What's happening?"
"Are you asking me?" Mia retorted, her anger flashing into indignation.
Before she could continue, three figures emerged from the car, clad in black and masked. Guns gleamed in their hands, and Mia's anger gave way to shock. Her body froze, paralyzed by fear.
Dylan, equally startled, instinctively grasped Mia's hands, attempting to flee. But their escape was thwarted. The masked men blocked their path, forcing them toward the car.
Undaunted, Dylan resisted, seizing one of the guns and firing a fatal shot. The remaining assailants recoiled, momentarily stunned.
Seizing the advantage, Dylan fought back, but he was outnumbered. A blunt blow from a gun sent him crashing to the ground, unconscious.
The men swiftly overpowered Mia, bundling her and Dylan into the car. As they sped away, Mia's desperate cries filled the air.
"Dylan, wake up!" she sobbed, shaking him frantically, but he remained unresponsive, his stillness fueling her panic.
