"How is Satoru's training going, Kaori?" The Third Hokage questioned. "Will he be able to graduate with the most recent Academy class?"
Sobu Koari, the elite Jōnin assigned to closely monitor and train Tsukinaga Satoru, stood in front of Sarutobi Hiruzen.

"Yes, sir. He has completed all of the schooling required to become a Genin, and he has completed the graduation test; creating at least three functional Shadow Clones. I believe he is ready to become a Shinobi."
"I see... Kaori, I trust your judgement. I will allow Tsukinaga Satoru to become a Genin and join a Jōnin lead team. I suggest, with his skill, he should join Team 10, led by my son, Asuma. Which ever team he joins, it will be a four man, but I don't think it should be a problem.
Kaori stood in front of the Hokage, rubbing his beard in thought, one of his many habits. "How about Team 7, lead by Hatake Kakashi?"
Hiruzen smiled internally, not letting it show on his face. Of course Kaori would want his student to train under his closest friend. Hiruzen took a big puff of his pipe. "A great idea."
Satoru walked the crowded streets of Konoha, the bright sun shining on his back. He was looking at the clear sky, not a cloud in sight. Usually, when the Tsukinaga boy was in public, he tried to avoid making eye contact with anyone. After the slaughter of his clan, somehow, the details of why they were killed got released. It wasn't revealed who killed them all, or what village sanctioned the act. But everyone knew the Tsukinaga Clan was planning to take over the Hidden Leaf Village, the clan were branded as criminals. The Tsukinaga Clan name was basically dragged through the dirt and thrown off of a cliff. Satoru, being the only known survivor, obviously didn't get the best treatment.
Just about everyone in Konoha knew of the boy, knew of his clan's plans. It's not if they despised him for it, but it was no secret that the Tsukinaga Clan possessed power greater than the gods themselves. The villages more feared the 13 year old boy, always sending him dirty looks, ignoring and avoiding him at every chance they could get. It didn't bother Satoru much though, he was used to the treatment by his own father, a bunch of strangers giving him the same was nothing.
Satoru was heading back to his lonely apartment. It was only him that lived there, he clearly didn't have any family or friends. The only time he ever even talked was when his mentor and "babysitter," Sobu Kaori came to train him and bring his monthly groceries, which mostly consisted of instant ramen. He didn't mind it though, ramen slowly started to become his favorite food.
When he arrived at his apartment and opened the door, the first thing he saw was a tall man with brown hair tied into a ponytail and some really stupid glasses- according to Satoru of course.
"Sensei." Satoru acknowledged the man's presence.
"Satoru!" Kaori said with a small smile, holding his arms out for a hug.
Satoru walked right past him, sitting on the twin sized bed in his living room. The apartment was quite small. "Why are you here, we're already done with training for today, right?"
The smile on Kaori's face grew as he looked at Satoru. "You are now officially a Leaf Village Genin!" The brown haired man threw the forehead protector in his hand towards Satoru, who caught it easily.
Satoru's heart quickened, a small smile creeping on to his pale face. "Thank you." The Tsukinaga boy said, looking away as his cheeks turned a bright shade of red, almost matching his eyes.
Satoru quickly walked into his bathroom, tying the headband to his forehead. Warmth filling his cold heart for a split second.
Koari hesitantly knocked on the bathroom door, not waiting for a response before speaking. "Satoru, just know, I'm proud of how far you've come."
The Tsukinaga boy quickly ripped the door open, only to find no one there.
