Satoru found himself wondering the streets of Konoha once more, but this time, they were silent. Everyone was in their homes, sleeping peacefully. He held his hand out as a few tiny drops of rain landed on his palm. Soon, the rain was pouring.
The Tsukinaga found himself standing right outside the entrance to the Leaf Village or maybe the exit. Satoru hadn't decided yet.
He faced the large gate. There wasn't many guards around. Satoru knew he could easily slip out without being spotted to avoid any unnecessary questions.
Satoru stared at the gate for a long time. "I really hoped you wouldn't come here tonight."
"And why is that?"
"Because now I have to make a decision."
"There's only once decision you can make."
"And what is that?"
"Getting stronger together, just like we promised we would. Come with me, Satoru." Sasuke said, walking past the Tsukinaga and turning to face him. "Why are you hesitating?"
"There's something I haven't told you, Sasuke. That day, when Orochimaru first gave us these Curse Marks and I was unconscious, my father came to me, using a Jutsu to somehow invade my mind or something. He told me that the only way I could ever kill him was to seek out Orochimaru, to let him train me. I yearn for the power to end my father's life, it's what kept me going in my loneliest, darkest days, but obtaining that power from a man just as evil as him? I don't know Sasuke."
"What are you going to do, Satoru?! Stay here in the Leaf Village?! Naruto and Sakura could never understand us! We aren't like them! Staying here and pretending you are isn't going to make you stronger!"
"I can't do it, Sasuke. I can't leave the Leaf Village. It's exactly what my father wants me to do."
Sasuke began to feel a burning lump in his throat. "Don't make me beg you to come with me, Satoru. Just do it."
"I'm sorry, Sasuke. Even if you groveled on your knees before me, I wouldn't change my mind. I won't beg you to stay. I know you have to leave, just as you know I have to stay here." Satoru said with a shaky voice. He tried to hold the tears back but they flowed out of his eyes anyways.
