The next morning, Y/N could feel the eyes on her.

She knew L would follow through on his promise—constant surveillance. She wasn't naïve; from the second she left that interrogation room, the cameras had already started tracking her every move. She acted normal, though, just as anyone would. She grabbed a cup of coffee, leaned against the kitchen counter, and stared out the window as if this was just another regular day.

But she knew. The weight of invisible eyes followed her every gesture, and the room felt smaller because of it.

A small smile tugged at her lips as she sipped her coffee. Let them watch, she thought. She wasn't about to let the paranoia get to her. If anything, this was part of the game. L wanted her to slip up, to crack under pressure. But that wasn't going to happen. Not yet, at least.

The first few days were simple. Y/N went through the usual motions—getting dressed, eating breakfast, heading out to grab some files from a small office she used to work at. She didn't do anything to arouse suspicion. No erratic behavior, no unnecessary detours. She wasn't stupid. L was studying her like a puzzle, and she wasn't about to give him the last piece that tied her to Kira.

But after a while, she started to get bored. Y/N wasn't the type to play things straight for too long.

Sitting at her desk later that evening, she casually opened her laptop, typing out a few meaningless emails to old contacts. She wasn't doing anything remotely suspicious, but as she felt the weight of the camera in the corner of her room, her fingers hesitated over the keys.

Let's give them something.

She tilted her head just slightly, letting her eyes flick up toward the camera's lens—just for a second. Then, without breaking her casual demeanor, she smiled faintly to herself and returned her attention to the screen.

Y/N knew L would catch that. It was subtle, but that one glance was intentional. She wanted him to know she was aware of the cameras. A small move, a minor tease, but it was enough to send a message: I see you.

The thought made her chuckle softly. She closed her laptop and stood, stretching her arms above her head. She knew the surveillance team was probably watching her, recording every movement. Maybe even L himself was sitting behind some monitor, eyes fixed on her every action, waiting for her to slip up. But Y/N wasn't about to give him the satisfaction. Not so easily.

As the days passed, Y/N kept up the same routine, always making sure to act just normal enough to not raise red flags. But every now and then, she'd throw in little signals—barely noticeable gestures that hinted she knew exactly what was going on.

Like when she walked past the living room camera and tossed a casual wave in its direction, as if greeting an old friend. Or the time she left a sticky note on her desk that simply said: "Good morning :)" right in the camera's view.

None of it was outright suspicious, but it was enough to make them question her. Enough to make L wonder if she was playing along, or if she was actually mocking him.

Y/N didn't need to be a genius to know L would be analyzing everything—her movements, her body language, even the way she sipped her tea. He was thorough like that. But she wasn't about to let him get the upper hand. If L wanted to watch her, fine. She'd let him watch. She'd even put on a show if that's what he wanted.

L was always one to dig deep, and Y/N's sudden involvement in the Kira case had him intrigued and suspicious. Why was she so eager to help? What was her real motivation? His analytical mind wouldn't rest until he had answers.

Back at the headquarters, his team had been busy gathering and reviewing information on Y/N. L was in his usual slouched position, sifting through the details with his intense focus. Despite his usual stoicism, there was a spark of curiosity in his eyes as he analyzed her background. There was something about her eagerness that didn't quite fit.

Later that evening, Y/N was lounging around her apartment when she heard a knock on her door. She opened it to find L standing there, his casual attire and nonchalant demeanor making him look almost out of place in her cozy home.

"Well, look who it is," Y/N said with a teasing grin. "What brings you here?"

L studied her. "I've been reviewing your background. Your eagerness to assist with the Kira case has raised some questions."

Y/N's smile widened, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh? And what kind of questions are we talking about?"

"Why are you so determined to be involved?" L asked, his tone serious but with a hint of curiosity.

Y/N tilted her head, her playful demeanor not fading. "Well, you know me. I just love solving cases. And Kira? He's like the ultimate case."

L didn't break eye contact, his gaze steady. "So it's just about the thrill for you?"

She chuckled, leaning against the doorframe with an air of casual confidence. "Partially. But it's also about proving that I can handle whatever comes my way. Plus, who wouldn't want to be involved in such a high-stakes case?"

L's eyes narrowed slightly. "You're not giving me much to work with."

Y/N pouted playfully, taking a step closer. "Aw, come on, L. You're a smart guy. You should know better than to take everything at face value. If I told you all my reasons, it wouldn't be nearly as fun."

L's gaze flicked to her lips and then back to her eyes. "I'm not here to play games."

Y/N's smile turned more mischievous. "Oh, but games are part of the fun, aren't they? I'm here to help, and I'm quite serious about it."

L didn't smile, but there was a glimmer of intrigue in his eyes. "And you expect me to just take your word for it?"

She tilted her head, her eyes locking with his. "How about this: give me a chance to show you what I can do. I promise, you won't be disappointed."

L considered her words, his expression unreadable. Y/N was undeniably charming, and her flirtatious demeanor made it difficult to discern her true intentions. There was something about her that was both captivating and infuriating.

"I'll think about it," L said finally, his tone was non-committal.

Y/N grinned, leaning in a bit closer. "I'll be waiting, then. Just remember, I'm always up for a bit of fun. And who knows? Maybe I'll be the one to solve this case."

With that, Y/N closed the door gently, her smile lingering as she turned away. L walked back to his car, his mind racing with thoughts of Y/N. She was a woman wrapped in charm, and he couldn't help but wonder what more she had up her sleeve.
