The glow of Y/N's laptop lit up her dimly lit living room. She scrolled through endless search results, her fingers tapping anxiously on the keyboard. Her recent sightings—Ryuk. This wasn't normal. Nothing about it was normal.

"Supernatural entities, unexplained visions, dark creatures," she muttered as she read through various articles and forums. "Fantastic. I've officially gone insane."

One post claimed that seeing such figures was a sign of being cursed. Another insisted it was a guardian spirit. A third boldly declared that such things were omens of death. Y/N frowned and closed the tab, leaning back on her couch.

"Cursed?" she whispered to herself, shaking her head. "No way. Nothing bad's happened to me."

But the thought lingered. She couldn't ignore the possibility that there was something more to all of this.

"You seem pretty deep in thought."

Y/N jumped, her heart nearly leaping out of her chest. Ryuk was lounging lazily on the armrest of the couch, his unsettling grin plastered across his face.

"Jesus!" Y/N clutched her chest. "Do you ever announce yourself like a normal... whatever you are?"

Ryuk chuckled, tilting his head. "Where's the fun in that?"

She narrowed her eyes at him, trying to steady her breathing. "Do you enjoy scaring the life out of me, or is that just a bonus?"

"It's entertaining," he said simply, shrugging his skeletal shoulders.

Y/N rolled her eyes and returned her focus to her laptop. "You're not real," she muttered under her breath.

"Oh, I'm very real," Ryuk replied, his voice dripping with amusement.

She refused to look at him, afraid that acknowledging him would make it worse. Instead, she continued her search. Every result seemed to point to something supernatural. There were mentions of grim reapers, gods of death, and other ominous entities.

"Great," she muttered. "So either I'm cursed, or I'm losing my mind."

Ryuk let out a low chuckle. "Why not both?"

"Not helping," Y/N snapped, glaring at him.

For a moment, she debated asking him outright what he was. But she knew better by now. Whenever she tried to get answers, he either avoided the question or gave her a vague, cryptic response.

"You've got nothing better to do than stalk me, huh?" she asked, closing her laptop with a frustrated sigh.

"Not really," Ryuk admitted.

"Fantastic," she muttered, standing up and stretching. "I'm going to bed. You can... I don't know, do whatever it is you do when I'm not around."

Ryuk just grinned, his glowing eyes following her as she left the room.

The next morning, Y/N decided she needed a sense of normalcy. Or at least, she needed to try. She went back to work, brushing off her lingering doubts and fears as best she could.

The office was buzzing with activity as usual, and she quickly found herself swept up in the chaos. But it wasn't long before she found herself face-to-face with Light Yagami.

"Y/N," Light greeted her warmly. "Good to see you back."

"Thanks," she said, forcing a smile. "Feels good to be back."

As they talked, Y/N couldn't help but notice Ryuk standing between them, his lanky form towering over both of them. He seemed oddly... focused, his attention shifting between her and Light.
