"Now, this is a surprise," the figure said, its voice raspy with an almost amused tone.

For a split second, Y/N considered that she might be dreaming. But the creature's gaze—sharp, intense, and unblinking—felt far too real. "Who...no, what are you?" she asked, her voice steady though her hands had gone cold.

The creature tilted its head, watching her with something like curiosity. "Huh," it said, its grin widening. "Didn't expect this."

Y/N squared her shoulders, trying to act unbothered. "Is that right?"

The creature let out a low, amused chuckle, but didn't answer her question. It seemed far more interested in simply observing her reaction, like she was the curiosity.

"What, cat got your tongue?" she prodded, keeping her tone cool. She wasn't about to let this thing see her rattled. "Or do you just like keeping secrets?"

The creature's eyes narrowed in amusement. "Secrets," it murmured. "Everyone has them."

She felt a shiver run down her spine at the way it said that. Her instincts were screaming at her that this thing wasn't human. But if it was connected to Light, then she needed to understand exactly how.

She took a deep breath. "You know, it's rude to leave people guessing," she said, a slight edge to her voice. "Are you even real, or am I just seeing things?"

The creature's laugh grew louder this time, a deep, unsettling sound that seemed to reverberate through the room. "Real enough for you, it seems," it said, eyes gleaming with a strange amusement.

"So, are you here for a reason?" she pressed, refusing to back down. "Or is creeping people out just a hobby?"

It let out a long, slow exhale, almost like a sigh, though it seemed to be watching her reaction closely, studying her. The attention was unnerving, and yet, she couldn't look away.

"You ask a lot of questions," it finally said, still sounding entertained.

"I'm a curious person," she replied with a shrug, even though her pulse was racing. "Guess it's part of my job."

The creature just smiled, not saying a word, as though savoring some private joke.

Her patience waning, she let out a huff. "So, what—are you going to keep standing there, or are you going to give me an actual answer?"

It tilted its head again, those piercing eyes glinting with something she couldn't quite place. "Answers... can be dangerous," it said cryptically, its voice laced with mockery.

Y/N felt her jaw tighten. "Well, if you don't plan on giving any, I won't waste my time," she said, throwing one last challenging look his way.

It only laughed again, a slow, unsettling sound that seemed to echo through the empty office. "You're more interesting than I thought," it finally said, eyes gleaming.

She raised an eyebrow, not letting her guard slip. "Glad to entertain," she replied dryly.

The figure laughed. A loud, villain like laugh, which scared Y/N once more, but it didn't respond. She turned away, refusing to let it see how rattled she felt, though she was all too aware of its gaze lingering on her. When she glanced back again, the creature was gone, as if it had never been there.

She exhaled slowly, her mind whirling with questions. Whatever she'd just encountered, it was connected to Light somehow—she was sure of it. But if that thing was some sort of... watcher, it wasn't giving her any clues.

Little did she know, they would meet again.
