YEvery read, every vote, and every comment yis a gift. They honestly keep me going. Thank you. I know some of you at least are enjoying this book. I hope you continue to do so. I am always open to suggestions of things you all would like to see happen. I can't promise to use them all, but I do read them and will always consider them. (I have a story board for a second book started.) In addition, I encourage you, if you do enjoy my writing that in between chapters in this book, you consider reading or checking out one of my other works. I do have a few other things posted with plans for more. With that said, and all due respect thank you all again!
-ShadowAny who...I've decided to split this chapter into two parts. You've all waited long enough for this. This chapter takes place from late afternoon December 20(after war). The next will cover the 21st(Enid's work holiday party). They were alluded to in the last chapter. I still feel the events within that time frame were significant enough to warrant their own chapters. They encompass the time the rest of the family is at the Yule ball at Aunt Ophelia's house. Wednesday and Enid are left to their own devices to celebrate the winter solstice. They also attend Enid's holiday party for work. There will be some smut in both chapters. Please keep in mind with the passage of time both Enid and Wednesday are now in their early 20's. They are adults. I'll clearly mark and summarize the passage so that if such things are not for you, you can absolutely skip that part. Now, here we go.
December 20: Afternoon
When The Dust Settles"But mama, you have to come. You always do. It's tradition. Who will I dance with? Please." Ever clung to Wednesday on the verge of tears. Wednesday shook her head. "Please! You said if I got one over on you, I could choose my reward. Anything. I did. Today I did. I got you, and I won the battle. This is what I want most." Wednesday flinched. She honestly didn't expect that her absence at the ball would affect Ever so greatly. She nearly gave in. "Ever my love, it's only two days. You know I shouldn't attend. I simply do not get along with Aunt Ophelia or her overly dramatic and dreadful daughters. She and I never agree on anything, and they all enjoy purposefully starting arguments with me. It would only spoil our time there if I went. It would spoil grandmother's time with her sister. They rarely see each other as it is. I'll have no refuge, and I'll have no quarter. I will act out in retaliation. It would not end well. It's simply not the right time of year for a funeral. Not with the ground still frozen. I also made a commitment to Enid baby. What kind of Addams would I be if I turned my back on her?" Wednesday sighed she rarely rambled, yet her she was trying to justify her decision to her five year old. "Oh mama, Ms. Enid can come too! I want her to come too. I want our family together. Please! I want you both." Ever begged. Wednesday looked back at Enid over her shoulder with a grimace. Ever did as well with pleading eyes. They needed a united front if they were going to win this discussion.
Enid turned a deep shade of red. She was about to tell Ever they would forget the party and their semi planned time alone and attend the ball. Wednesday gave Enid a look hoping she would back her up. It was a tense moment. "Well Ev, hah honey, kiddo, I ah already sorta like...shit...shoot...I already um RSVP'd. For both of us. I mean your mom and me...and I, we...we can't just not show up now. Principal Greenwood, Aunt Karen, would probably be upset. It's her party." Enid stammered biting her bottom lip. Wednesday nodded in agreement. "Yes. I'll make it up to you my little monster. I promise. We will. We'll spend the rest of the holiday together." Wednesday stated. Ever looked crestfallen. She looked deeply into her mother's eyes then over to Enid. She finally relented begrudgingly with a sigh and a nod. She wrapped her arms tightly around Wednesday's waist first then hugged Enid before turning to take Gomez's hand and walking towards their car. "Don't worry Wends, I'll take pictures. She can dance with us." Eugene stated leaning into Wednesday as he jogged by to jump into his mom's SUV. Wednesday offered a small smile in response. Soon after, the Addams Family hearse and the Ottinger SUV pulled through the gate and onto the open road off to Massachusetts. Wednesday let out a heavy sigh.
