"KARINAA!!" I cried again. Kevin ran over to us. He looked at me then her and back to me with wide eyes. Karina panted.
"Kevin go wake the others!" I didn't turn my head to look at him. He obediently ran into the bushes.
"Karina! What happened?!" I urged her. She might be gone any second now. Tears were streaming down my face.
"Needle... hit... leg... earlier.. with Olivia..." Karina forced herself to speak. Olivia was hit too?!
"Eh?! Who hit you?!" I didn't care that my voice was loud and getting louder. I needed to know.
"Came... from... Tree...." Karina trailed off. Her eyes fluttered close. Her breath became quick and shallow. "Olivia.. saw..."
"So she wasn't hit?!"
Karina nodded. So Olivia wasn't hit. I felt relief. But that feeling quickly disappeared as I remembered Karina.
"ATTENTION TEAM NEW JERSEY" The booming monotone voice started. "YOUR FRIEND HAS ATLEAST 3 MORE DAYS LEFT. YOU CAN SAVE HER BY FEEDING HER A FLOWER OF MANY THAT CAN BE FOUND ON THE SIDE OF A STEEP CLIFF." Is the voice helping us this time? Or another trick? And how did he know?
A fresh wave of panic dominated my feelings.
