Finally we reach the end of the second world war its April 1945, and the Red army is closing in the gap of the remaining German troops that struggle to defend the country. Barely 1,500,000 men left to defend Germany whilst the Red  army had achieved 6,500,000 men. And with superior weaponry and troop quality, the Germans were soon to lose the war. The western Allies had landed in France and secured the western front. France, Belgium and the Netherlands were all liberated by the Allies. Leaving Germany on a two front war that would result in a defeat and pave the way for the battle of Berlin.

January 1945, the Red army had failed to capture Warsaw in 1944 after the failed Polish uprising. And the Soviets had prepared 2.2 million men for the assault called the Vistula-Oder offensive. They quickly overrun the German forces guarding Warsaw and they only encountered limited resistance on the front. Then they finally reached their goal and that was to prepare for the battle of Berlin. Which was going to be one of the most bloodiest battles in history and also change the world. And they reached the end of their offensive by reaching the Oder river and barely just 43 miles from the outskirts of Berlin.

The western Allies closed the large gap and destroyed the German troops on the western front and encircled the Ruhr and taken it into holding. Which severely reduced the German war industry and its efforts to survive. And once the war came to a bitter halt. It was now onto the decision of when the Red army would attack again and take Berlin causing Germany to surrender. And this was decided in April 1945, the Red army launched an attack and the German armies no longer had its once powerful military might. And they quickly fell back towards Berlin. Eventually Hitler ordered many of the German army to gather into Berlin and to hold out for long as possible.

The Red army attacked and the Germans quickly flocked into the city. And as the Red army slowly encircled around them they brought up the last men they could and by April 26th the city was encircled and seiged for 10 days. The 100,000 German troops trapped tried to fight their way out however with the lack of weaponry and troops they barely held out and the Red army cleared the city in a rough 10 days. The Germans fought to the very end and despite them knowing they were going to lose the war they kept going until it was too much to handle. And on April 30th, Hitler committed suicide in his bunker. Believed to of blown his brains out with his Luger handgun. And by 2nd May the last German resistance in Berlin was cleared.

The 800,000 so troops left in mainland Europe had been stuck to a stalemate in Czechia and Austria and the Red army launched an assault to take Vienna the last major city before the expected German surrender. And after the capture of Vienna aswell the new German government signed an armastice and unconditionally surrendered. On May 6th 1945 and so did all its last standing pockets of resistance including those stationed in Norway, Denmark and Northern Italy.
And the last pockets stuck in Courland and East Prussia. Then also some hold outs in some of the ports in France.

Finally the 2nd world war came to an end in Europe and all what was left was Japan across the other side of the world which also capitulated in September 1945. After the dropping of two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Then also the Soviet invasion of Manchuria which solidified the Japanese loss.

Anywhere between a total of 60-85 million people died between the years of 1939 and 1945. 6 years of invasion and blood and conquest came to an end...
