Chapter Four.Mom: How's your first day?
I swiped mom's message away, turning my music up even louder, going back to re-writing my notes from class today. It was my first day and I feel like there's already so much to remember. Who knew studying to be a writer would take so much... writing.
Mom: Ok, love you. I'm sorry I'm being over-bearing. :(
I sighed, sending her a quick message back. Knowing I need to appreciate having a mom that loves and cares as much as she does.
Me: It was a lot, but good. Love you. <3
I laid my phone on the table, continuing to scan over my notes and rewrite anything I may have missed or messed up. Trying to focus, but I just couldn't. My mind was still on the party last night. Flashbacks run through my mind of those green eyes and tattoos... and oh that smirk...
I could just-
"Hey girl hey!" I blinked and took my headphones off my head to see Zoey entering the room. I shot her a quick smile, "Hey." She sat on the edge of the desk I was sitting at, looking at me with sincerity. "I'm sorry I took you to the party, I wasn't trying to overwhelm you," She reassured.
"It's okay, I just don't ever go out and do things like that." She nodded. "I see your brother is a touchy subject for you in front of new people too, huh?" I avoided eye contact.I don't know her like that and if she is my brother's girl, whose to say she wouldn't tell him everything I said if I opened up to her. But what if she didn't and this would help us become better friends?
No. Keep it to yourself, Peyton.
"He's my older brother, it's always going to be hard admitting that," I laughed, rolling my eyes. She laughed, "I get it." She stood to her feet, walking over and falling back onto her bed. "Sage seemed pretty intrigued by you last night, after you left, he kept asking Declan questions." I spun around in my chair, officially done with those notes. "Why would he care?" She smirked, shrugging her shoulders. "I don't have time for any games, especially from an asshole," I shot.
Her face fell and I could tell something was wrong. I furrowed my brows.
"Well, why don't you tell me how you really feel, new girl."
My eyes widened. There's no way he's in the room right now and just heard all that.
I closed my eyes, slowly turning around, hoping when I opened them he wouldn't be standing there.
Nope, I was wrong. He's definitely there.
"I-uh-" He walked closer to me, "You uh, uh, were judging someone you know nothing about." Shocked, I stayed silent. "Awful judgy of you," He scolded. "That's bad for your character." I rolled my eyes, "From what i can tell, your also in no position to judge someone's character." He let out a little laugh, tilting his head to the side. "Fair enough."
Breaking the awkward silence, Zoey spoke up. "What do you want, Sage?" He looked at her, "I was looking for Davis, but I found little Davis instead," He smirked. Ignoring his comment, I let Zoey entertain his conversation. "He's getting sushi with Aiden," She explained. He nodded, "Thanks." He started to walk towards the door but stopped again. "We're all going to meet at the warehouse tonight for a movie, if you wanna join, new girl."
With that, he left.
"Warehouse?" I questioned Zoey. "The building where the party was," She explained. I nodded, understanding now. "You should come, he obviously wants you too," She encouraged. I shook my head, "I don't need to take my focus off of school work as soon as I get here." She looked a little offended, but also seemed understanding. "Your loss," She shrugged, leaning back and playing on her phone.
My loss?
Nah, I don't think so.
