Chapter Twenty-Eight

Today was the day, I was finally done packing, all I had to do was carry my suitcase outside and we were good to go. It was an almost five-hour drive to Madison GA, the small town that I grew up in, and a part of me did not want to go back and see my mother. I knew she would be full of questions on my life, how things are, how me and Sage got together, and why I haven't called her...

She's a terrible mother, that's why.

"Hey Babygirl," I heard, I looked behind me to see Sage in the doorway. He wore a blue v-neck shirt, the short sleeves exposing all of his tattoos, jeans, and his black converse. I smiled, looking him over more than once. "Like what you see?" He laughed, walking towards me. I smiled, as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I rubbed his arm, looking at his tattoos. "You're just so-" I paused, but before I could answer Declan walked in.

He cleared his throat and Sage and me instantly pulled away from each other, looking at him. "Let's go," He said, shooting a glare at me.  I rolled my eyes, "Yes sir." I saluted him and he walked out. I let out a deep breath, rolling my eyes. "It's okay," Sage mumbled, before grabbing my suitcase and we walked out to his car.

"I'm going to stop and get some breakfast once we get out of FL," Declan explained and we all agreed. "Be safe," I told D and he nodded, before him and Zoey got into his car and us in Sage's.

This is going to be a long ride.

-

We were 15mins out and I was looking out the window, letting my hand flow through the wind. Sage and I didn't really talk on the drive, instead he played his music and we just enjoyed the trip here. Suddenly one of my all time favorite songs started playing. "Blunt Blowin'" -Lil Wayne.

I practically jumped out of my seat, clapping my hands, and turning up the radio. "You good?" Sage laughed and  I nodded, beginning to rap the first part.

I live it up like these are my last days, if time is money I'm an hour past paid.

Gun powder in hour glass, *-----* faker than some flour in the powder bag.

I put it down like my hands hurting, I'm on that natural high, but I land perfect.

I kept singing/rapping, dancing as it hit the chorus. I looked over at Sage, nudging him to join me and he shook his head laughing.

Loser.

"What do I get for putting up with this concert?" He asked when the song ended. "Ummmmm," I hummed. "What do you want?" His eyes dropped, quickly scanning over my body before looking back at the road, his hand gripping the steering wheel tighter. "You don't want me to answer that." I raised a brow.

Ohhh, but I do.

"Tell me," I instructed. "I want to slam you-" He started but I stopped him, my face already red. "Never mind," I laughed, hiding my face, looking out the window. "What happened, I thought you wanted to know?" He laughed.

Smooth mfer. Smooth.

"You never told me about your dad and why he was here yesterday," I mentioned, randomly remembering we never continued that conversation. His attitude quickly changed, as he sat up straight as a board. "He got me an apartment outside of campus," He said, swallowing hard. My eyes widened. "Oh." He didn't dare say another word, as we pulled into the driveway, parking.

One thing at a time.

Let's get today over with and we'll talk about that later.

I climbed out of the car and immediately my mom came running outside, engulfing my brother into a hug.

Lucky me, I'm next.

She smiled, walking over to me. "Hi, hunny! I've missed you!" She said, wrapping her arms around me. I gave her a hug back, before she let go, and looked at Sage. "You must be Declan's best friend," She smiled. "But why did you ride with Peyton?" She asked, but I think it was more of a question she was asking herself. I reallu don't want her knowing. "Because I didn't want to drive D's car," I quickly answered, and she nodded slowly.

She wasn't sure if she believed me or not, but luckily she bought it.

"Well, let's get you guys settled in," She said, walking back to the house. I met Sage's gaze and he looked both confused and pissed off.  "What the hell was that?" He mumbled, as we got our bags from the trunk. Before I could answer, Zoey came over. "You guys need help?" She asked. We both shot her a look and said "No." at the same exact time.

Oh god... This is going to be so much fun.....
