Chapter Twenty-One

I was sitting on a blanket, digging my toes in the warm sand. Perks of living in Florida is the warm weather, even in the fall. I came back to the spot Sage showed me... I just needed some air to sort things out after last night. Sage left in the middle of the night, and I couldn't stop thinking about what he said.

"I'll want you even more than I already do."

Why can't he just want me then? I've replayed all out moments we've shared, the looks, the flirting, the jealousy, the cuddling, the kisses... the intimate touches. I realized something very important. All my life I've wanted a "Stefan" but deep down I really want a Damon. Someone who pushes my buttons, who scares me... excites me. Someone who's just misunderstood.

Fuck, I want him.

-

I got out of the Uber, speed-walking to Sage's dorm. Now, don't let my hurrying fool you, because imma nervous wreck. How am I even going to explain this to him?

Hey, remember how I hated you, turns out I like you now even though I've just been using you... I know you're bad for me, but I want this.

That's makes me sound like a crazy person, not to mention if my brother found out then all hell would break loose. But screw it. All or nothing.  I've got this.

I made it to his room, standing outside of the door like a fool. I took a deep breath before knocking. The door opened and there he was. His hair wet and messy, nothing but a white fluffy towel wrapped tightly around his waist.

It should be illegal to look that good.

"P?" He seemed surprised. "Is everything okay?" I was just about to answer when a short; black haired girl came up behind him. Her hair was also wet, wearing his t-shirt. I don't know if I felt angry, sad, jealous, hurt, stupid, more self-aware; or all of the above.

"Oh, sorry-" she started but Sage shot her a look, silencing her.

Yeah bitch. Hush.

My eyes met his, "you are exactly everything I thought even when you almost convinced me otherwise." Overwhelmed and feeling dramatic, I walked away, leaving his stupid self in the doorway.

I just had opened the exit door and walked outside when I see Declan about to walk in. "Hey baby sis," he joked. "Hi," I faked a smile. "What're you doing here?" He asked. "Looking for you," I lied. He looked confused. "Want to go grab lunch?" I offered. He threw his arm around my shoulders, "as long as you're paying."
We both laughed, walking down the sidewalk.

Just what I needed.

We may butt heads but at the end of the day, every little sister will always need her big brother.

Today, I definitely needed mine.
