FOREVER WINTER; Taylor Swift

Scarlett
"Too young to know it gets better."

Claire
"I'll be summer sun for you forever."

"Claire?" I called out shoving open her bedroom door.

"Hey chickie," She beamed, sitting on her bed in a pair of pink plaid pyjama bottoms.

"I've missed you," I smiled coming to curl up next to her in bed.

"I've missed you more," She grinned, "I feel like we haven't talked in forever. Your text sounded serious, you okay?"

I was practically shaking with nerves. I wanted to tell Claire everything about my recent events with Patrick, which involved me telling her about my cutting.

I knew she'd be supportive but I also knew she'd probably cry her eyes out.

"Yeah, I've just got some stuff to tell you," I swallowed hard, "I'm honestly surprised no one's told you already."

"What is it?" She asked, turning to look at me.

"I've, um," I struggled to find the words, "I've been cutting, for a really long time. But I've not done it for a few weeks now."

Claires smile immediately dropped and I saw her eyes fill with tears.

"Scarlett," She choked out, "Why didn't you tell me? How didn't I notice this? I'm a horrible friend."

"You're not a horrible anything," I shook my head, "No one knew, not even my family."

"But I'm your best friend. I'm supposed to look out for you," She sobbed, causing me to pull her into my arms.

"Claire, you're the best friend. I promise you, I didn't let anyone know," I stroked her hair, "My family just recently found out, and I'm going to group therapy."

"I'm so proud," She cried, "You're so strong. I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you. That must've been so hard."

"It was," I nodded, "But Patrick was there for me."

"Patrick knew?" She raised her brows.

"He found me one night, in the midst of it," I explained, "He was the only one who knew for months. Until he told Liz, who ultimately told my mam."

"He told Liz?" She sat up, "And you let him live?"

"That's the thing," I groaned, "I think I love him, Claire. Because no matter what he does I can't seem to hate him."

"You love him?!" She screamed, "Why aren't you back together?"

"Jaysus, want to be a little louder? I don't think the people up the block heard you," I huffed.
