"Would you call me a liar if I told you he raped me too?!" Scarlett screamed, "For years. And I never told anyone."

My heart stopped beating.
Her words struck me to the core and I nearly lost my balance.

I was already distraught for Gibsie and now her.

She was frozen in place, looking absolutely heartbroken before sprinting to the door.

I wanted to go after her but my feet wouldn't move.

Her words were stuck in my head.
My brain working overtime to piece it all together.

And then things started clicking.

Your step brother did rape her sister.

"Just keep talking to me. I want to know it's you."

"I'm so fucking scared."

All the things she'd said.
It was so obvious now and I'd missed all the hints.

My heart was breaking in my chest and tears were now falling onto my cheeks.

"No," Hughie shook his head, "Fuck."

"They are liars! It's in their blood," Lizzie was screaming, "Both of them!"

"Shut your fucking mouth," I snapped, losing my cool, "Stop saying that shit. You're wrong!"

I shot Lizzie a look of anger before fleeing the room and chasing after Scarlett.

I didn't have to go very far because I rounded the corner in the hallway and there she was.

Her back was pressed against the wall, and tears were streaming down her face. Her eyes shot to me and she looked more broken than she ever had.

"Scar," My voice cracked.

"I'm sorry," She whispered, her whole body shaking.

Taking two strides towards her, I immediately pulled her to my chest.

"Don't you dare apologize," I shook my head, "Nothing is your fault."

Her hands clung to my suit jacket and her whole body shuddered as she sobbed into my chest.

"I'm scared," She cried, "Everyone knows."

"Don't be scared. I won't let anything happen to you," I held her head to my chest, "I'd kill someone before they could hurt you. And not everyone knows, it's just our friends and I will make sure no one says a word to anyone else."
