☆ ♫ Patrick ♫ ☆"Lad, stop standing in here like a loser and come shotgun with us," Hughie shouted over the music.
"I'm good here," I shouted back.
I felt slightly guilty, considering it was his eighteenth birthday but I had the perfect view of Scarlett from where I was standing.
She was laughing at something a guy was saying and her hand was casually placed on his arm. And worst of all his eyes were not on her face.
What a fucking dick.
I mean maybe I glanced at her chest a few times tonight but at least I had the common decency to not stare at it.
"Stop moping over her," Hugh shook his head, "She doesn't want you back."
"I know," I groaned, "But that doesn't mean I want her with anyone else."
"She's free to do whatever she wants," Hugh shrugged, "Besides you're over here wearing a couples costume with Liz."
Shit.
That's where Scarlett's sudden change of heart came from.
I can see why she's mad.
I just hadn't thought of it that way.
When Liz asked to match I thought it would be a fun idea, but I should've known Scarlett would be pissed.Moving my eyes back to where Scarlett was standing I felt my heart rate increase when I noticed she was gone.
"Fuck," I sighed, downing the rest of my drink.
"Don't do anything stupid," Hughie called after me as I shoved through the crowds of people.
When I caught sight of her standing outside with the same boy she had been talking to all night, I swallowed hard.
She wasn't my girlfriend and I knew that. She wasn't really my anything, but I couldn't stop myself when my feet began walking towards her.
"Hey," I forced a smile, as I slid an arm around Scarlett's waist.
"Hi?" The boy she was talking to gave me a weird look.
"What are you doing?" Scarlett scoffed, stepping away from me.
"I'm introducing myself to your new friend," I sucked in a breath and then extended my hand, "I'm Patrick."
The boy nodded and shook my hand, "Jacob."
"Nice to meet you, Jacob," I gave him a tight lipped smile.
"Can you maybe go away?" Scarlett offered.
"I'm good here," I shrugged, "So Jacob, how do you know Scarlett?"
"We've just met," He took a swig of beer, "I saw her and was like 'wow she's gorgeous' so I went up and started talking."
"I see," I hummed, "She is quite gorgeous. Which is why she's my girlfriend."
"What?!" Scarlett shrieked.
"Shit! I had no idea, lad," Jacob choked on his drink, "I swear."
"No hard feelings," I assured him, while Scarlett's face remained shocked.
"That's not true!" She shouted, eyes blinking rapidly.
"Come on, baby," I grinned, "Let's get out of here."
"I'm not going anywhere with you Patrick Feely," She stomped her foot.
"Fine," I sighed, lifting her by the waist and throwing her over my shoulder, "I'll take you out of here."
"Put me down, Patrick," She screamed, "Or I swear to god I'll throat punch you."
"Relax," I chuckled, rounding the corner to the side of the Biggs house before gently placing her on the ground.
"Are you out to ruin my life?" She shook her head, "Because that guy was cute and nice."
"You can't talk to him," I sighed.
"And why not? I'm single. I don't owe you shit," She hissed.
"I don't care if we aren't dating," I stated, "No matter what you're mine. We both know it."
"I am not your anything," She crossed her arms over her chest, making me cast my gaze down, "Stop staring at my tits!"
"It was one look!" I threw my hands up, "Jacob was staring at them all night!"
"Jesus Christ, are you stalking me?" She scoffed, "Don't you want to spend time with Lizzie."
"You're mad about the costume," I nodded, "I didn't even think of it like that, I swear. I thought of it in a friend way and if you asked me to match with you I would've in a heartbeat, because oh my god you look stunning."
I watched her expression soften for a minute before she was back to her stoney expression, "You've got a lot of nerve, Feely. One second we are on and the next you're off with Liz."
"I'm always on with you," I assured her, looking into her grey eyes.
"Well you could've fooled me," She snorted, "I'm sick of the both of you and I'm even more sick of you together."
"You broke up with me," I blurted out, "You told me to stop loving you and I've tried. Sorry for being friends with Liz."
"It's not about being friends with her," She groaned, "It's that it's her. You could be friends with anyone but yet it's her. The girl that hates me and my family? That's completely outrageous and I have no idea how you don't get that."
"You pushed me away! Liz has been my friend since primary school and I went to her to talk! I would never do that if you were still my girlfriend," I scoffed, "You ended things."
"I fucking know that!" She shouted, "Jesus Christ why can't you let me go?!"
"Because I love you!" I yelled.
"You shouldn't," Her voice got small, "I'm all messed up."
"I'm totally okay with that, baby," I took her hands in mine, "I swear, nothing is too much for me."
"Patrick, please," She whispered, pulling her hands out of my grasp.
"I'm not going anywhere," I stood my ground.
"Then I'm leaving," She sighed, turning to walk towards the front of the house.
When she disappeared around the corner, I followed after her only to bump into her when she froze in place.
Looking to the driveway, chaos had ensued.
Well shit.
Leave it to our friend group to be in drama by the end of the night.
