In 1944, Korea remained firmly under Japanese control, having been annexed by the Japanese Empire in 1910. Over the years, the harsh realities of this occupation became increasingly apparent to the Korean people. Fueled by a deep sense of injustice and a growing awareness of their oppression, Koreans began to fervently fight for their independence.

Jungkook served as a police officer under the Japanese Imperial Police. Despite his position, he harbored a profound sense of the urgent need for Korean independence. Although he worked under Japanese control, Jungkook and his fellow Korean colleagues secretly assumed different identities by night, working covertly towards the cause of independence.

The head of the Japanese Imperial Police scoffed as he addressed his officers, dismissing the Korean independence movement with a contemptuous laugh. "These Koreans and their pitiful attempts at independence," he sneered. "They're just using their brains to chase after foolish dreams."

Jungkook and a few other Koreans were present, standing in attention, though their faces betrayed a mix of resolve and frustration. The head officer, well aware of their true identities, couldn't resist a mocking comment directed at Jungkook. "Mr Jeon won't you agree with me too?,Its pitiful to see them try for something they would never get," he said, his tone dripping with disdain.

Jungkook's jaw clenched as the head officer's laughter echoed around the room. He exchanged a brief, knowing glance with his fellow Koreans, who, despite their outward calm, shared his frustration. The officer's mocking words were a bitter reminder of the oppressive regime they were working under, and the thin veneer of loyalty they had to maintain.

After the meeting, Jungkook and his comrades gathered in a secluded corner of the station. The weight of their leader's words hung heavy in the air. "We must keep up the act," Jungkook said, his voice low but firm. "But we cannot let his ridicule deter us. Our fight for independence is more crucial than ever."

His fellow Koreans nodded in agreement, their resolve strengthening. They knew that every sneer, every taunt, was a reminder of why they had chosen to fight in the shadows. As the sun set and the streets of Seoul darkened, they would once again slip into their covert identities, continuing their struggle for a free Korea, undeterred by the scorn of their oppressors.

In the quiet of the night, Jungkook's thoughts were filled with the hope that their sacrifices would one day lead to the liberation they so desperately sought.

"Jungkook," Enwoo, one of his comrades, called out to him. Enwoo, also a police officer, maintained a guise of loyalty while secretly supporting the independence cause.

"What's up?" Jungkook asked, turning to him.

"Let's go to the pub tonight," Enwoo said with a casual grin. "It'll be good to unwind before tomorrow's operation. We could use a bit of relaxation."

Jungkook nodded, understanding the need to maintain appearances while secretly preparing for their mission. "Sounds good," he agreed. "Let's go."

The pub was bustling with activity, filled predominantly with Japanese patrons. Koreans, as a rule, faced frequent restrictions and were rarely seen in such establishments. However, as police officers working under Japanese control, Jungkook and Enwoo were among the few Koreans allowed entry.
