Bryan Smith, 38.

Detroit, MI:

Isabella sat motionless in the driver's seat of her car, gripping the steering wheel like it was the only thing tethering her to reality. Her eyes were fixed on the horizon, where the twilight sky bled into soft shades of purple and orange, casting glow over the world. Normally, the beauty of the evening would have calmed her, would have given her a sense of peace after the long day, but tonight it felt distant, as if it existed in another world, a world far removed from the storm of emotions swirling inside her.

She got out the car, she didn't want to. She knew doing this would start a world of trouble, but innocent men sitting in prison just didn't sit right with her. She walked across the prison parking lot where she met with Zach, who was the led detective on this case. "Hey Ms. Valentine, how are you?" He asked as she approached him.

"A bit tired, but I can only imagine what Bryan's going through."

"Tanner sent me to make sure things went smoothly, and to give me the closure I never got." Zach replied.

"You knew Bryan was innocent?"

"No one would listen, they just took his confession plus I was 6 months in on the job my word was no good." He replied, he opened the door for her letting her in first before following behind her.

"Well welcome to the team, your word is gold with Monica and I. You two need to work out whatever differences you may have."

"Look Izzy, I know that she's your best friend, but Monica is not a good lawyer, she's unethical and wants to win by any means necessary I can't speak to her character outside of work but I've been in multiple situations with Counselor Litz and she plays dirty. At first I thought you were the same, but you are not. I joined to make sure your career was safe, she won't have a license for long if she continues down the road she's on." Zach replied.

"Nobody's perfect Zach, and sometimes things have to be done. I don't want to know the details of what happened, but I appreciate your concern." She replied as they'd both approached the warden who was already waiting by the front desk.

"Isabella, it's always a pleasure seeing you. I heard you resigned!" Terry the warden greeted her as they hugged.
