Detroit, MI:
"Jaden to Cade, Cade to Marvel he cuts in and he dunks!" The announcer announced as the buzzer rang putting them 4 points ahead of the Mavericks winning the final game before they headed to finals. The arena was going crazy, and Lilah grabbed Isabella's phone out of her hands.
"Did you hear anything I said?" She asked, she put her hand on her hip squinting at Isabela. She hated not being able to be at every single one of Ambrose's games, but she would make sure to catch parts of the game when she could. She wanted to be as supportive as she could, she knew her job demanded a lot of her time, and Ambrose's job did too. They somehow still managed to make things work, and be happy.
"No, what happened?" She asked, when it came to Ambrose she always tuned out the entire world, he was her everything.
"The jury is back, come on." Lilah said, a lot of pressure had been put on her for the past few months to win this case. At first she didn't start off strong, afraid of what may happen to someone she cares about, but she came back strong in the end. It all came down to the jury, and Isabella got up from her desk.
"Sorry, this is the last game before the Finals and I have to watch." Izzy replied.
"We know yo man play ball girl that don't mean shut the whole world out I mean I am your employee what if I was dying?" Lilah asked dramatically as she handed Isabella her phone back.
"But you're not though." She replied as she followed Lilah out of her office.
"That's besides the point and you know that." Lilah says leading the way to the elevator. "You really did a good job with this case. I don't know how you pushed through, with all the shit you and your family has been through with him this past year I woulda thought you woulda threw the case."
"Never throw a case, no matter what's at stake. Someone's life could be on the line, I took this job to help people, not myself." Isabella replied as they entered the elevator.
"I know I know I hear you the whole oath thing and what not, but girl you strong I woulda jumped ship." She said as they got off the elevator on the main floor making their way down to the court room where their case resided. They'd entered in as everyone else was entering in to hear what the jury had to say.
They sat at their table, and Izzy zoned out. She grew even more nervous by the second, it ws like time slowed down at this moment. She looked around trying to find a distraction from her thoughts of what could be if the decision was or wasn't guilty. She would be lying if she didn't say she was afraid, her palms grew sweatier by the minute. When the jury began to read off the charges it was like her breath was caught in her throat and the world stopped moving completely, and she let out that deep breath when she heard the words, "Guilty."
"You fuckin did it, you beat Josiah Martin!" Lilah squealed excitedly as she jumped up, Josiah Martin hadn't lost a case all year, but then again he hadn't ben up against Izzy. He thought it would be an easy win since she was just now putting her degree to use, but he learned quickly just how good Isabella was. Isabella was embraced into hugs by a lot of people who thanked her for getting justice for Daniel. Daniel's mother, cousins, uncles, aunts, and she felt so bad because she was the reason he was dead. Yes he was crazy but he was loved and the guilt started to eat at her, but she couldn't say anything. What's done is done, and now the only thing she could do was go home to her family and move on from this nightmare.
