Detroit, MI:
Justin checked himself in the full body mirror, he'd dropped the kids off across the street with Izzy and Ambrose. It'd been a tough 3 weeks for him, but Lilah was helping him forget about the drama every other night. The divorce would get messy, Monica didn't want the divorce so she made it clear to him she would fight him on it.
He'd been so used to wearing suits, Monica loved him in suits. Lilah on the other end told him never to dress like that coming to see her again, she didn't want to know the man Monica created, and Justin didn't know who he was other than the man Monica created. 21 years with the same woman, he knew how to impress his wife, he had no idea how to do anything else other than impress his wife. He shook his head shaking away his negative thoughts, he was managing to get through the nights now without crying.
He wanted to be okay, and he wasn't. He hated to have to leave his wife, but he couldn't deal with her anymore, he couldn't breathe in that relationship. No matter how much he handled her with love, she still chose to be cold and he didn't understand why he loved her still. He shook it off taking a deep breath, he turned off the lamp picking up his car kays making his way over to the front door. He opened it right as Monica was about to knock, he sighed as their eyes connected.
"Justin can we talk?" She asked raising her eyebrow at his attire.
"I can't I have somewhere to be."
"Where? You seeing somebody else?" She asked a hint of jealousy in her voice. Lilah had repeatedly told him to keep Monica out of their business. She still had to work for her and she didn't need Monica making her job hard.
"That's none of your business. Why you here? Sign the divorce papers." He said avoiding eye contact, she'd wrapped her arms around his torso and the annoyed look that was on his face softened the moment her hand touched his face making him look down at her.
"Justin I messed up, and I know you don't deserve the way I've treated you. I'll do whatever it is you want, but I can't lose you. I'll tell you everything, I'm just tired. I never wanted you to find things out this way, I didn't know how to tell you and then each secret dug me into a deeper hole and I was stuck in this ongoing cycle of keeping things a secret I lost sight of everything."
"I don't want to talk about this Monica." He mumbled, he felt himself growing weak for her, but he pushed that feeling away. "I have to go."
"Okay, but I'm going to be here waiting for you when you get back." She said letting herself in and he sighed. He didn't have time to argue with her, so he left her in the house and exited. He was already running late, and the last time he was late Lilah pouted for the first 20 minutes of their date.
Justin pulled in front of a small house, he checked his face in the mirror before he got out. Though all they'd been doing is going out for drinks and food and coming back to her house they were enjoying it. It was simple, and nothing confusing Justin sometimes forgot he was 10 years older then Lilah and then there were moments he didn't forget especially when they were in bed together. She'd did things to him he didn't even know could be done and she was spontaneous she knew what she wanted and how she wanted it.
