Detroit, MI:
Ambrose knocked on his mother's door, and for a minute he wanted to turn around and just forget it, but this was for Monica. It was bigger than him, she'd opened the door shocked to see Ambrose, "Brose, you okay?" She asked.
"I need your help mommy." He admitted, he'd missed his mother. He was so upset with her but he only got one mother and no matter what he loved her.
"Anything, what's going on?" She asked concerned.
"Monica's mom, she won't let the controls go on Monica she threatened to kill her, all of us and the kids."
"Katrina, Katrina, Katrina." Ambrose's mother said shaking her head. "It won't be an easy fix, we'll need to hit her once at every angle-"
"Yeah Izzy said the same thing, you should come over hear everything." He said reluctantly.
"I would love that, Ambrose?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm so sorry for everything son." She said.
"We'll talk about that at some point, right now I need you to help Monica." His mother nodded slowly, but the regret lingered in her eyes. He could feel the weight of her guilt, but he couldn't afford to unpack that now. Monica's life was on the line, and that took precedence over everything else. Even old wounds.
Mama Marvel grabbed her keys from the key hook next to the front door, she locked her bottom lock and she'd followed Ambrose across the street to his house. Once they'd gotten inside everyone was there, Monica, Justin, Tory, Austin, and Isabella, "Wow, I remember the day you all graduated like it was yesterday." Mama Marvel said, she hadn't seen them all together at once like this since then. It was a great feeling to see that after all these years they were all still here, secret after secret, when the world tried to rip them apart they'd all still managed to find each other. When one was down the others shielded them not caring about what consequences came with it.
"Yeah I guess it has been a while since you've seen us all together, huh?" Justin asked. "You're the only parent left besides Monica's mom."
"I was the parent who didn't get to watch y'all grow, so now my karma is watching from the sidelines wishing I'd done better. Not just for Ambrose, but for all of you. Tory you had no adult looking out for you and every adult involved failed you including me and for that I'm truly sorry. Honestly Justin and Austin's parents were the ones looking out for you guys as they should have been and you guys lost Austin's parents in 10th grade, and then Justin's parents 12th grade so you guys lost your safe place. Isabella I knew Aries was Ambrose's and I did nothing to help, Monica I know what kind of person your mother is, I knew back then too and I had a feeling you weren't safe and I did nothing. Austin you were like a brother to Ambrose and I didn't step in when your parents died, Justin same for you. Ambrose, son I abandoned you during a time you needed me most, I allowed your father to dictate everything and I lost my son."
"I'm in no mood to make anybody feel better, I'm going to respect you because you're Ambrose's mom. You should be sorry, you should feel shitty, you don't have my forgiveness, you did more than fail us, you had a hand in completely traumatizing us. 6 fucking teenagers had no idea how to be there for each other but we found a way. I'm tired of us being manipulated, used, hated, torn apart, and pushed around fucking do something Amber." Tory said, she was sitting on the couch holding Monica. "We shouldn't still be dealing with bullshit from our childhood, we all been best friends for over 20 years and we sitting in this bitch learning new shit about each other every other fucking week because we want to protect each other from y'all bullshit."
