Detroit, MI:

Lilah's heart raced, her hands trembling slightly as she shifted uncomfortably in her chair. "I-I don't know why he—" she stammered, her voice soft, unsure. Monica leaned in closer, her presence looming like a storm, feeding on Lilah's fear.

"Don't play dumb with me," Monica hissed. "You've been hovering around him like some pathetic little girl, haven't you? Trying to steal what's mine."

Lilah's breath hitched. "I-I never meant to—"

"Of course you didn't mean to. Girls like you never do," Monica spat, her voice cold and sharp. "But here you are, ruining a marriage that's lasted longer than your career. Do you even know what it's like to have something real, something you've worked for, just to have some insecure nobody get in the way?"

Lilah's throat tightened, her confidence draining under the weight of Monica's words. She opened her mouth to respond, but nothing came out. Monica smirked, seeing the effect she had. "You're out of your league, sweetheart. And you'll regret ever thinking you could have anything of mine."

"It's really not like that Monica, I didn't mean to fall for him."

"Fall for a married man?" Monica asked laughing. "You're nothing, you have nothing, and you don't know what to do with a man like Justin. You're a little ass girl playing grown woman games, how long have you been fucking my husband?"

"I-I haven't, we cut it off 3 months ago." Lilah immediately responded.

"You expect me to believe that and he called me your name last night?" Monica asked. "You go anywhere near him, I'll kill you. For now I'll settle for making your life hell, nasty ass slut sleeping with someone's fucking husband. You gone regret the day you met me."

Outside the office, Ellie stood by the door, her arms crossed as she listened to Monica tear into Lilah. The venom in Monica's voice sent a wave of fury through Ellie's chest, but she stayed quiet for a moment longer, hearing Lilah's breathing grow more ragged with each passing second. She hoped that Lilah would stick up for herself, but she didn't. It was too much. Ellie couldn't let it go on. Without hesitation, she opened the door and stepped inside, her presence immediately shifting the energy in the room. Monica's head snapped toward her, eyes flashing with annoyance.

"Ellie," Monica growled. "This doesn't concern you."

Ellie closed the door behind her calmly, her expression controlled. "Oh, but it does. You think you can walk in here and intimidate Lilah because she's too nice to stand up to you?"

Monica stood up, her fury barely contained. "Stay out of this, Ellie. This is between me and her."

Ellie stepped forward, positioning herself between Monica and Lilah, whose wide eyes were filled with relief at Ellie's sudden intervention. "I don't think so," Ellie said, her tone firm. "You've crossed a line. You don't get to come in here and harass people because you're angry your marriage fell apart."
