Chapter 38: meeting gramps

After last night it seemed everyone was kind of annoyed about the party being ended that way. They aren't annoyed me thankfully but it was just a little awkward in the morning. It was 2pm and I was in Dumbledores office for the training of my shapeshifting ability, after this I was going to talk to my grandmother as I want answers but I also haven't spoken to her in about a year and a half I'm sure she's got questions. I almost forgot I could talk to her until the other day so I knew it was inevitable that I needed to see her again.

"Right okay so I would like you to see if you can shapeshifting into people as well as animals so start with the one you love the most." He said and my heart flickered hearing that as I looked at Severus who was also in the room for this lesson. I chose to change into my sister instead as I do love her so much. I think of my sister and how she looks closing my eyes and pulling on the feeling I felt those days ago when I first changed. Then I open my eyes slightly blurred but I looked at myself through Snape's eyes to know if I'd done it. I hadn't realised my sister had bad eye sight I shall speak to her later about it. Looking through Snape's eyes I knew that I had done it and I smiled. Then changed back to my own body and Dumbledore smiled at me when I looked over at him. Does he know if he does what would he do. Am I going to be in trouble would Severus get fired if he does he's still apart of the order.

"Is there anyone else you would like me to turn into other than my sister?" I ask him changing the subject before he could ask me anything about the person I loved the most.

"How about a professor choose anyone of my staff to change into then we can go back to animals and really getting a grip of changing into something faster." He says and I chose to change into Snape to see how they would react. It seemed easier as he was standing right there I blinked and I had already changed into him. I knew this as he looked a little shocked that I chose him and kind of flattered. He smiled at me as like he did when we were alone forgetting Dumbledore was even in the room. I quickly changed back to myself and smiled at him almost laughed at his expression of his face. I then looked back to Dumbledore. He leaned against his desk before saying "well done, I guess when the person or thing is in the room it's easier to change, right okay let's go back to animals now." He said and we did it for about an hour before dismissing me.

I made my way to my classroom and sat on the couch. Waiting a few seconds before summoning her and then got on with it before actually backing out of it. She appeared in front of me across from the coffee table and she seemed happy to see me. "Hi. Sorry for not contacting you for a while, life got away from me since last time." I say and she nods.

"It's okay sweetheart, I was still watching over you sometimes to see if you were okay." She says. "I knew you'd contact me at some point I just wasn't sure when though. So tell me everything ask me anything." She says to me and I take a breathe before speaking again.

"Well I found out that I was a shapeshifter this week so I've just come back from my first actually lesson with Dumbledore and Severus, did you know that I was one?" I say looking up at her and she was already smiling at me for a reason not sure but it hit me that I called my potions professor his first name. "Shit I didn't mean to say his name. I guess I've also gained him as my boyfriend as well, I hope you don't think it's strange I'm dating my professor while also being his assistant which I had also gained." I explain but she just looks at me smiling like she's happy for me.

"I'm glad you have someone to care for you than your friends. But I did not know about the shapeshifter ability I guess it must be from someone else maybe your dad or his ancestors or your grandfather. I guess we both had secrets we didn't share with each other if he was." She says to me and I thought about trying to contact one of them.

"Do you think I could contact any of them I mean I can contact you so it would be the same as getting them here?" I question and she shrugs.

"I mean I guess so. You can always try, why don't you try it right now get your gramps here while I'm still here I'm sure he'd be pleased to see me again." So I tried and...

"Gramps." I said to him and he seemed a little shocked to see me but he saw my gran and was so happy to see her after so long. He looked at me confused as to who I was so I introduced myself. "Hi I'm your granddaughter Bernadette but my friends and family call me el. I'm Tabitha and garretts first born." It sounded weird to say but it was true, he looked so glad to know that I was okay and here.

"My goodness I never thought I'd ever meet their children I am to understand there's four of you correct." He says.

"Yes me the oldest, primrose my sister and then raven and atticus. Raven has actually just started this year next year we'll have atticus too. But I contacted you to ask questions." I tell him and he nodded.

"Is this about the shapeshifting? If it is then it's me you inherited that ability from I kept it a secret because..." he started but interrupted by my gran.

"Because you couldn't trust anyone but yourself with your most precious deepest secret." She says understandingly.

"She had kept a secret from you too. She had oplemancy, that's how I'm actually talking to you right now so." I say to him and he was impressed and glad that now in the afterlife they were both truthful.

"Tells talk shapeshifting. With it you may turn into anything you imagine objects animals and other people of course. Now there's a trick to transforming faster, training of course will help but also having a certain plant that either grows in the desert or muggles use after they've been sunburnt." He says clearly terrible at making riddles.

"So a cactus and an aloe Vera plant." I say and he looks defeated.

"Was it really that obvious." He responds.

"Yeah. But there anything else that I need to know." I ask him and he remembers something.

"Yeah they need to be in the room you sleep in as the aroma of them goes into you system easier." He says "okay that's everything, do you need my assistance any further if not can I go play chess with me friends." He says and I let him go as I didn't need him anymore right now.

"I think that you got your answers so I believe it's my departure now. I'll catch up with you soon I hope el and when I see you again you can tell me more about your life." She says smiling so I say goodbye to her as well. After that conversation I head to herbology to see if sprout has those plants in there I can have in my room. I make my way there and I find her working on placing the mandrakes out for a lesson tomorrow.

"Hey professor I was wondering if you had any aloe Vera plants or cactuses here in one of the greenhouses as I'd like have some in my room this year." I say and she greets me once I had arrived.

"Ahh yes I do actually over here. These seem to be spare ones I had from my house when clearing it a bit for other plants. I brought them here hoping someone would be interested and it seems you were the lucky one." She says giving me the 2 plants and smiled at her.

"They you professor, I hope my roommates don't mind I come back with these. I shall take care of them well. I shall leave you to whatever you were doing and I hope you have a nice day." I say walking away and she says goodbye to me. But before I could leave she asked me something.

"How are feeling today? After last night and the Draco situation." She asked and I looked at her.

"Oh I'm fine, better now that I have these gorgeous plants with me." I say and smiled warily clearly wanting to ask another question. "Do have another question professor?" I asked her.

"How is it that everyone else seem so hung over after those parties like last night with the drugs but you, you seem to be perfectly fine?" She asked and I wasn't sure how to answer as I didn't want her to know my drug abuse.

"I don't know maybe it was my parents who were drug addicts when I was a child that made me better at handling the drugs better. If it's not that then I'm not sure professor." I say and lets me go without further questioning me.
