I admit, I wasn't usually this confused. It was the first time I had forgotten to bring my wristwatch and my eraser to an exam. Even worse, I somehow ended up sitting next to Sarah. How? I don't know. I just found myself sitting next to her all of a sudden. Well, Eric made sure that he would sit next to Anthony and Anthony made sure that he would sit next to Kadir and Kadir was sitting next to Tristan and so on. In short, there was quite literally no space for me left. I had the option to either sit next to Sarah or next to Aisha. I mean, it wasn't as though I had an issue with this outcome. I never sat next to Sarah in an exam before. This was like a first step in our relationship, if you could call it that.

"I'm not ready for this exam.", Luna began nagging. Sarah stayed quiet. She tilted her head to the side, being very much aware that Luna always got an A in chemistry. Nevertheless, Luna didn't notice. She tangled her straight black hair around her finger, despite it being rather short. Her mood suddenly seemed to lift once someone approached us. To my surprise it was Tyson, who chose to sit right behind Sarah. He didn't even greet me.

"Hey Tyson, are you all fired up for the exam?", Luna asked with her most innocent voice.

"It's just another exam. I'm going to pass with full marks anyways."

Arrogant as always. However, something was off about him. His brown eyes were fixated on Sarah the entire time. Eventually she even turned around and asked why he was staring at her. I had no idea how she noticed but somehow she did. Apparently that wasn't really suspicious to Tyson. He shrugged and told her that he wanted to wish her good luck. Since when did they get so close? Didn't they hate each other just a few days ago?

"Thanks.", she answered before turning around and facing me. My cheeks flushed as I looked at her pure smile.

"Let's do our best Christian!"

"Sure...", I stuttered.

The teacher arrived a little later and handed all of us our exam papers. The exam itself was fairly easy. Acids and bases were actually a topic I enjoyed quite a bit. If only I had brought my wristwatch and my eraser with me. As the entire class turned quiet, I lost track of the time. Eventually I got stressed. How much time had passes since the beginning of the exam? I had no idea. I tried to go through the tasks as fast as humanly possible as I was overstimulated by all those worries. What if I took too long for that one task? Besides, how was I supposed to know the chemical formula of lactic acid?! That was it. I messed up. I had never failed chemistry before and why in the world was everyone more silent than usual?! It was too quiet. I could hear my own heartbeat.

Someone was chewing gum. Another person was tapping their foot on the ground. The teacher was marking homework. Every time someone got a question wrong, he clicked his tongue. I couldn't concentrate with all these noises around me.

All of a sudden I heard how Tyson got up from his seat and went to the front to hand in his exam paper. How was he so fast? Was I out of time? I hadn't finished the other two tasks yet. I needed to work even faster and skip the task with the lactic acid, even though it was worth one third of the points. Could it actually be that I was going to fail this exam?

Just for a second I faced Tyson. He had this self righteous look on his face as if he was telling me that he had won. I swear, he was looking at me. Not at Sarah and not at Anthony. Tyson was clearly looking in my direction and obviously judging me. What had I done now? I was just trying to pass but Tyson saw this as a challenge. Being second was one thing but failing this exam became unforgivable. Something was going on with Tyson and I didn't know what it was. I had to think of something, fast! Hurry up Christian! I know you can do it! Don't mind Tyson! Just do your own thing!

I must have gone insane. I knew that this was impossible. Every small mistake could lead to me failing this exam. I was... anxious. It was all because of Tyson. Why did he look at me like this? What was he trying to tell me? I had no idea but then the truth showed itself.

I felt how someone lightly nudged my shoulder. As I turned to look in Sarah's direction, I suddenly noticed a few things laying on my table that surely hadn't been there before. An eraser that looked like a duck, a pink wristwatch and a note. As I made sure the teacher didn't notice me, I opened the note.

The chemical formula for lactic acid is on the back of the second exam paper. In task 2a you wrote ethanol instead of methanol. You also forgot to write down the chemical formula for vinegar in 2b.

Chill. You have time.

Only one hour had passed? I still had time? I turned to look at Sarah but she was thinking. Whenever Sarah was in thoughts, she nibbled on her pencil. I thought that it was kind of cute even though the pencil was probably begging for forgiveness.

Honestly, I couldn't help but smile. I didn't expect her to do this for me, especially since this was her only wristwatch and her only eraser. I could tell because that thing she pretended to use as an eraser was actually just a piece of paper. If I could, I would have hugged her but first of all we were in the middle of an exam and second, I was too embarrassed to do so. My face must have been bright red.

"So, how did you do?", Sarah asked Luna right after she handed in her exam paper.

"Okay I guess. It might not be an A+ this time but I guess I can live with a normal A.", she sighed. Arrogant bitch.

"What about you Christian?", Sarah suddenly asked.

"I think, I did well. Thank you by the way. You helped me out a lot with this."

Shyly I handed Sarah the eraser and her wristwatch back. As she tried to take her stuff back from me, our fingertips touched for a split second. I felt the electricity rush through my entire body. Her touch felt welcome and gentle.

"Why are you two all lovey-dovey? I think I'm going to puke, if I stay here for any longer.", Luna explained, before she pulled Sarah along with her. Already I tried to bridge the distance between us but all I could do, was watching her leave. I didn't even get to tell Sarah that my mother invited her over to dinner. Guess I had to write her a message after all.
