Admittedly, I didn't expect to hear that Sarah slapped Tyson. It was quite literally the hot topic of the week. I didn't come to school on that day but based on the rumours it seemed as though Tyson didn't do anything wrong. Did I believe it? No. I'd been friends with Tyson for long enough to know how dramatic he could be sometimes. Besides, Eric told me what happened. If I were a little more courageous, I would have confronted Tyson about it but of course I didn't do anything like that. I pretended to not know anything about it but it was hard to miss that the rumours about Sarah had gotten even worse.

I think the worst rumour was that Sarah was apparently jealous of Alexy, so she slapped Tyson because she was heartbroken. Of course that wasn't true at all but there was nobody to back her up.

The worst thing about the entire situation was that not even Luna said anything. Sometimes I really wondered how Sarah even considered Luna a friend. A real friend would have protected Sarah. I wasn't a real friend. I couldn't even bring myself to talk to her, if it weren't for Eric.

"You should call her at least."

Usually I enjoyed our time in that unused classroom but right now I was just stressed out. Did Eric really have to make a logical argument? Couldn't he just focus on that book he was reading instead of making the entire conversation about me?

"I can't do that!"

"Well, you don't really have more options, if you don't want to talk to her in school."

"That's not the problem. I'll just make it worse you know."

"I don't think that matters right now. She needs someone by her side. Someone that knows that it isn't her fault."

"Can't you just do that? At least you were there, when it happened!"

"Weren't you the one that called me in the middle of the night to tell me that you and Sarah are friends? It means more, when it comes from you."

His logic was flawless. I leaned forward and looked up at his certain green eyes. Whenever I saw him like this, I knew that he was a good guy and just wanted to help me. That's why he opened his bag and offered me a piece of bread. That's why he was disappointed when I didn't take it. That's why he didn't push me, despite being worried.

Eric was right and I knew it. Even though I was worried, I was ready. For an hour I stared at my phone, as it simply lay on my bed. I had her number. I just needed to call her. Would she be glad I called or would she be creeped out? I didn't know.

When my younger sister May entered my room to steal my phone charger, she noticed that something was wrong with me. Eventually she called me out for staring at my phone for too long. I was rather startled when she suddenly spoke up, since I didn't even notice her coming in.

"A friend of mine is getting bullied at school for being a little weird I guess." I tried to explain.

"A friend? Don't you mean yourself?"

"Shut up May. If you just want to belittle me, you can leave."

"Sorry, I was just joking. Anyways, that doesn't explain the question. Why are you staring at your phone?"

I sighed. Did I really have to explain this to my little sister now? I mean, perhaps she could actually help me out. May was the polar opposite of me. She was social and lovely. When she dyed her hair pink, I was actually kind of jealous. Not because I wanted to dye my hair pink. It was just that I could never do anything like this. I always felt as though people were judging me for everything I did.

"Eric told me that I should call them but I don't know. We're not really that close and I think it might be kind of awkward if I just randomly call them. What am I even supposed to say?"

"Just tell him anything. Talk about Seeker or something like this. As long as you show him that he can trust in you, it doesn't matter what you say. At least that's what I believe. Anyways, mom was asking if you want to eat dinner."

"Dinner... I see. Sorry... Can you-"

"I'll tell her you're not hungry." May looked at me in disappointment but she knew better than to say it out loud.  When she slowly turned around, the emotions I had locked up deep inside of me, suddenly bursted out.

"Thank you! For both."

May shrugged.

"It's my job to take care of my dumb big brother." She smiled. I saw it. Worried and glad at the same time. Guess that's my sister for you.

Well, I was ready. I turned my phone on, I searched for her contact, I took a deep and anxious breath, I called. The phone rang once, twice, even a third time. She wasn't picking up. My heart was beating louder and louder. It was just like a drum. Bumm. Bumm. Bumm.

"Christian?" Her voice. It was cold. I had never noticed before but that her voice reminded me of a snowstorm. It was soothing and yet scary. Oh and British. Really British. Hadn't really realised that before either.

"Yes!" I was too startled to say anything. The last thing I had expected was for her to take the call. What now? Where was the courage from before? I tried to think of something to say, as my fingers gently played around with my wine red cotton blanket.

"Are you alright? Why did you call?" Come on now, she was straight up pressuring me.

"Actually, I just... well, you see... I just wanted to ask how you're doing."

I heard a sigh. Of course I had to ask a stupid question. She was just going to hang up anyways.

"You heard about it, didn't you?" Obviously.

"Listen, don't worry about me." How could I not?

"I shouldn't have slapped Tyson, I know." Wait...

"I got a little mad and-"

"That's not what I'm talking about!" I shouted. Silence. Now I did it. Great Christian. Absolutely great. I clenched my jaw just thinking about it.

"I heard from Eric what happened. Tyson shouldn't have said those things about you. I'm not saying what you did was the right solution but I'm saying that he kind of deserved it. Well... I just wanted to make sure that you understand that those rumours are all bullshit! They don't know what really happened."

A giggle.

"Thank you Christian. You're a good person. Anyways, I still have some work to do. I'm glad you called. I feel a lot better now. See you."

"Yeah... see you around..."

She sounded so happy at the end.
