I thought I knew what it meant to love someone with all your heart. I thought what Alexy and I had was special. I thought I could never love anyone again but I was proven wrong. You see, I really did not intend to talk to her in that moment. I wanted Christian to be Sarah's prince in shining armour but of course he had to skip school again. Now that all the exams were over, he was not going to show himself a lot. Typical Christian. Especially after the staircase accident the year before, I figured that Christian was going to turn out even worse than before but I really did not expect that.

Back to the topic, what am I even talking about? The thing is, there were a few classes where Sarah was all alone. Sure, everyone knew that Luna was an awful friend but at the very least she did work with her in group projects. Computer science was however one of those classes that Luna did not choose. Therefore Sarah was sitting all alone in the back of the classroom.

When the teacher told us to split into groups of five, Tristan was the first person to ask me, if we wanted to be in a group together and I was going to say yes but then I saw Sarah. Her head hung low. She did not even look around to see if anyone would let her join their group. Sarah knew that she was just going to be taken for granted.

I knew that due to our deal I was not allowed to talk to her but I already broke that rule the other day, when I wished her good luck for the exam. My mind told me that I should just mind my own business but my heart begged me to look at her. Honestly, all she needed was a chance after all.

Looking back I do not hate myself for choosing her. It was the right decision to walk up to her. It was the right decision to forget about everyone else around me because Sarah was the only one that mattered.

"Hey.", I said.

"Hey.", she answered. "What do you want?"

"Do you want to be in a group with me?"

"Sure."

I looked into her dark and soulless eyes adoringly. There was not a single flame of hope. Usually she would have gotten mad at me for talking to her but right now she was lonely. I reached out my hand to her and she took it. That was just how desperate Sarah was for warmth and love in that moment.

In the end Louis, Nikola and Tristan joined us. Why? Who knows. Perhaps they still had a score to settle or perhaps their hearts told them to join us as well. Not like they got along. For the first five minutes nobody even said a word. All four of them looked in different directions as though they would die just from looking at each other. Louis eventually even pulled his white hood over his head as a way to tell us that he did not want to hear us say even a single word. Why did he decide to join this group then?!

"So... has everyone read the text?", I asked innocently. My eyes shifted towards Nikola, who at least seemed to have done some work at all. It soon turned out that he was not planning on sharing his results with us however.

"That's so typical of you. Imagine talking to the other group members for once.", Louis suddenly snapped at Nikola. I saw how Nikola rolled his dark eyes before continuing to work in silence. It would be an understatement to say that Louis was annoyed. He hated Nikola with all his guts.

"As if you would share anything with us. Why don't you go back to being the teacher's pet?", Tristan interrupted. His blue eyes glared at Louis. I knew that those two did not get along already but it still surprised me every time. Moreover, their relationship to Nikola was not any better.

"Says one idiot to the other.", Nikola mumbled.

"Do you really think you're that smart to be making unnecessary comments?", Tristan snapped back. The longer their argument lasted, the more I began to believe that they would be the end of each other. This was anything but friendly fire.

"At least I didn't have to repeat a year, Tristan."

Nikola spitted out Tristan's name as though it was something disgusting. Obviously Tristan got mad as always. He was not going to accept this nonsense.

Without a care in the world those three continued to fight each other as if their life's depended on it. I tried to deescalate the situation but nobody listened to me. They were lucky that we were sitting all alone in this classroom. Otherwise some of the other students would have tried to get in between of them as well.

Reluctantly I looked at Sarah but she never looked up. Eventually I began wondering what could have been so interesting underneath the table that she did not even care to do anything. As the others continued to scream at each other, I took a quick glance under the table just to feel the colour draining from my face. She realised what was going on and tried to hide it but it was already too late. I had seen what she did with those scissors.

Without thinking, I got up and made my way towards her. Instantly I felt everyone's eyes on me. Suddenly they turned quiet. Something else had caught their attention. That something was me. I grabbed Sarah by the wrist and pulled her out of the classroom, even though she tried her best to resist. Only when I took the scissors away from her, without anyone noticing, she stopped resisting.

"I'm going outside with her. If you want to kill each other, then go ahead but stay the fuck away from her, if you know what's good for you.", I demanded harshly before leaving as I held Sarah's trembling cold hand.

I pulled Sarah outside to the secluded area behind the basketball court. Somehow I thought the fresh air would do her a favour and I was right. She collapsed down on the old bench, heavily breathing in and out. Their argument must have been too much for her. I noticed a few tears rolling down her face. She tried to wipe them away but I still felt this heaviness clutching at my heart. I did not want to see her cry.

I could not help it in that moment. I wanted to hold her fragile body in my arms until she would stop crying and so I did. No matter how many minutes it took her to calm down, I was there with her and not even once did I care about the fact that she stained my white blouse with her salty tears.

"You can talk to me. I'll listen no matter what you have to say.", I whispered into her ear.

"I can't tell you.", she whined. Once again the tears began falling. Much more aggressive and much more violent than before.

"Why?"

"Because it'll be just like back then. I'm not going to make it worse."

Sarah did not tell me what she meant by that. Neither did she answer any of my other questions. The only word she said was scissors and I was not going to give them back to her.
