CHAPTER 28

Younha

As soon as 7am arrived, I used Mingi's phone to call Yeosang, it took two tries before he picked up the third time.

Call to Yeosang

Yeosang : Who the hell are you and why are you calling so early ?
Younha : Oh my god, Yeo, it's me.
Yeosang : Younha, is that really you ?!
Younha : Yes, it's me ! How are you ?
Yeosang : I'm good but how are you, aren't supposed to be hiding ?
Younha : Things got complicated, I'll tell you everything, I promise. Are you home ?
Yeosang : Yes, I'm at my place. Are you coming ?
Younha : I am.

We finish the call and I hand his phone back to Mingi.

Mingi : I'll keep an eye on San here, you can go without worrying about him. Yunho is back at the actual station, waiting to intercept that video footage and as soon as he gets it, you will be free.
San : Is he doing okay ?
Mingi : Don't worry about him, even with his breakdown from yesterday, he's tough.

Ten minutes later I was on my way to Yeosang's and half an hour later, I was in front of his door. When he opened, the first thing he did was jump on me and hug me tightly.

Yeosang : I'm not gonna lie, I was starting to think you were dead.
Younha : I missed you so much.
Yeosang : Me too, I was so worried about you, I'm really relieved to see you again.

He releases me from his hug and looks at me for a second.

Yeosang : Are you hurt ?
Younha : It's nothing important, I got in a car accident but you don't need to worry, I'm really fine.
Yeosang : Okay, I will trust you on this one. Get in, I need you to tell me everything.

We settle inside the apartment, seating on his couch and I tell him everything that happened since I left Seoul and all the shit that has been going on since yesterday night.

Yeosang : And you're telling me you're fine ?! That guy could've killed you if he wanted to !
Younha : But he did not, thanks to San, I got rid of him.
Yeosang : How is he dealing with the situation ?
Younha : He tries his best to hide it from everyone but he's obviously not okay. I just really hope everything will get better soon for him.
Yeosang : I can't believe you've been going out for more than a year now, last time I saw you guys, you were only celebrating your one month anniversary.
Younha : Yeah, time flew by. Anyway, I didn't come here just to talk about this.
Yeosang : What do you mean ?
Younha : Do you remember the time I fell from the bridge ?
Yeosang : Of course I do, we were so worried. Why are you taking about this ?
Younha : Last night, I had a dream about it and I started panicking in my sleep so Sannie woke me up. Then, I talked to him about it and as we were discussing it, some memories came back.
Yeosang : Really ?! What happened then ?
Younha : It was her, mom pushed me and tried to kill me.
Yeosang : That's impossible, she was the one who pulled you out of the water.
Younha : I still can't remember this part but I can assure you, mom pushed me off the bridge.
Yeosang : Why would she even do that ?
Younha : To get rid of me Yeo, she never loved me and I was just a burden for her.
Yeosang : I know, and I know you hate her for this but accusing her of trying to murder you is something else, something huge and serious. You were still her kid, she wouldn't kill you.
Younha : Why don't you believe me ?
Yeosang : Because it's impossible, who would do that to a child ?!
Younha : Yeosang, it was her, I know it.
Yeosang : What exactly do you remember ?
Younha : I was running on the sidewalk, next to the water and there were some small steps to see the river better. I started climbing them and called mom but when she stood behind me, I felt her hands pushing me and I fell. I'm not lying, please trust me !
Yeosang : So you didn't see her pushing you ?
Younha : I did. I turned around to see if she was looking at the water with me and that's when she did it.
Yeosang : Oh my god. And...You're 100% sure it was her ?
Younha : I am.
Yeosang : We need to tell dad.
Younha : But, what if he knew about it ?
Yeosang : I guess that would be logical, she told him everything. It would be so wrong of him to lie to you your whole life and not telling the truth.
Younha : That's why I'm scared of telling him.
Yeosang : But we need answers now, don't you think we should call him ?
Younha : Are you doing it with me ?
Yeosang : Of course.
Younha : Then we should.
Yeosang : Okay, let me get my phone.

He comes back a second later, already dialing our dad's phone number.

Call to dad

Dad : Hi Yeo, what's up ?
Yeosang : Dad, Younha and I need to talk to you.
Dad : I thought Younha was on a trip.
Yeosang : She came back yesterday but that's not the subject. What do you know about her accident ?
Dad : The bridge ? I know as much as you do.
Yeosang : Oh really, mom didn't tell you anything about how it happened ?
Dad : Why are you asking this ?
Yeosang : She remembers what happened before she fell in the water.
Dad : What did she tell you ?
Yeosang : Mom pushed her.
Dad : Sorry son but your sister's lying, your mom didn't do any of that.
Yeosang : How would you know ?
Dad : Hum...She got her out of the water, why would she do that if she was the one who pushed her ?
Yeosang : Well I believe Younha, and I think you're the one lying here.
Dad : You know your sister has a hard time dealing with your mother's death, don't you think she made all of this up to talk about mom again ?

Yeosang looks outraged, and I am too. I can't believe he's trying to make me look like a crazy liar !

Yeosang : I think you should tell me the truth before I come to your place and force it out of your mouth.
Dad : Are you threatening me ?
Yeosang : Are you calling Younha crazy ?!
Dad : Not crazy but she has...issues.
Yeosang : She does not, tell me everything.
Dad : Your sister had a rough childhood, she wasn't wanted after all. I managed to save her life at her birth but a pregnancy denial can affect the way her brain works.

This can't be happening, he can't possibly be saying this to my brother. He's not saying I'm the one with a problem...

Yeosang : Fine, if you want to play it like this, I'll have the FBI involved to make you talk.
Dad : Okay, I give in !
Yeosang : Tell us the truth, what happened to Younha ?
Dad : Have you thought of therapy ? Both of you.
Yeosang: Just answer the question.
Dad : Fine, your mother did try to kill her ! She hated your sister and dreamed of the day she would get rid of her, she's the reason she killed herself ! She couldn't stand her anymore.
Yeosang : She has never done anything to her.
Dad : Younha's birth was enough, be glad I saved her life back then.
Yeosang : How did she come out of the water ?
Dad : Someone saw your mom pushing Younha and they called for help, they got her out before taking her in an ambulance.
Yeosang : Why wasn't she arrested ?
Dad : She manipulated everyone in thinking she was trying to catch her.
Yeosang : I have one last question. Why did you try to hide it so bad and why did you stay with mom ? She tried to kill your daughter.
Dad : I didn't completely disagree with her, Younha was more of a burden than anything for our family. She didn't deserve to die but I couldn't blame your mom for trying.
Yeosang : You're completely crazy ! Don't ever come near us again, am I clear ?!
Dad : Come on, it's just your anger talking.
Yeosang : No it's not, don't you dare approach Younha. You are not our father anymore.

He hangs up the call and looks at me.

Yeosang : I'm sorry.
Younha : I should've expected it, they never treated me like they loved me.
Yeosang : It doesn't matter, mom is dead and dad won't be in our lives anymore, I'll make sure of it. All you need to know is that I love you, you're my little sister and I will take care of you until the day that I die, do you understand ?
Younha : I love you too Yeo, I seriously don't know what I would do without you in this family.
