CHAPTER 36

San

Yunho : He wants to talk to you.
San : Of course he does.

Yunho opens the cell and takes me to Hyeonsok's interrogation room, where they cuffed him to the chair.
I sit in front of him and when I look at him, he smiles at me.

Hyeonsok : Finally someone with common sense.
San : What do you want ?
Hyeonsok : Tell them I never forced you to do anything, I'm your big brother, why would I hurt you ?
San : I'm not doing this.
Hyeonsok : What, telling the truth ?
San : You already had your revenge, be grateful with what you get. Didn't mom and dad teach you that ?
Hyeonsok : Fine, you will have her death on your conscience.
San : Who's death ?
Hyeonsok : Younha's of course.
San : I told you I didn't care about her anymore, you can kill her it won't affect me. That bitch lost my trust when she left me to work with the FBI.

I will for sure wash that mouth with much more than soap, I hate insulting her. But it needs to be believable.
I'll apologize to her as soon as I get out of here.

Hyeonsok : Don't play that act on me, I know she came to see you.
San : Yeah and I refused to talk to her, I hate her.

He looks at me quietly for a second, he can't tell if I'm lying or not. Perfect.

San : Now stop trying to threaten me and admit what you've done.
Hyeonsok : No, you're staying in here with me. Although, if you take the head of the gang when you get out, I might confess some stuff.
San : Your gang is dead, accept it.
Hyeonsok : I saw what you were capable of during this last month, you have what it takes to be a good leader.
San : I don't care.
Hyeonsok : Then enjoy prison.

I need to find a way to make him confess without the FBI thinking I'm gonna take the head of the gang.

San : Just be honest for once in your life, it would be the first and probably the last time.
Hyeonsok : If you want me to talk, you could start by loosing the attitude.

He's seriously getting on my nerves. It's pointless, he doesn't want to give in !
I need some time to think, to find how to make him talk.

San : I'm done talking to you, you know what I want.
Hyeonsok : Well you know the price for that, think about it.

Yunho takes me back to my cell.

Yunho : What you said about Younha...
San : I don't think a single word of it.
Yunho : Good.

Since she visited me here, Yunho completely changed his attitude around me. I know Younha had a talk with him about the situation, maybe that helped.
He seems to have "forgiven" me.

Yunho : We have another way to make him talk.
San : What is it ?
Yunho : Well, we don't talk about it out loud because it can seem...unethical, but we can use some sort of torture to get him to talk. It's only used in cases like this one and if you oppose to it, we won't go that far.
San : No, do it. Even though I'm afraid he'll let himself die without saying a word.
Yunho : We'll try to manage him until he gets tired of us. By the way, I got in touch with Younha this morning.
San : How is she ?
Yunho : She sounded fine, much better than the last time I talked to her. I think that conversation you two had really helped her.
San : I hope she won't be disappointed by the outcome.
Yunho : I'll do my best to make him talk, I promise.
San : Did you hear from Mingi ?
Yunho : Yeah, he woke up an hour ago. He'll stay at the hospital until he's rested enough.
San : That's good to know.
Yunho : It is. Anyway, I've got to leave you here, I'll let you know about the progress of the interrogations.

Five days went by without any progress. But this afternoon, he caved in and admitted what he's done to me. I don't know why he finally talked, I expected him to hang on for much longer, I'm afraid he might have a new plan.

I'm getting out of the station in just a minute, I feel like it's been so long since I haven't been outside when it's actually only been a month.
Yunho hands me my stuff and takes me to the door.

Yunho : I better not see you behind bars again.
San : I'll do my best.
Yunho : Take care.

He smiles at me and goes back to his work while I go outside.

As I expected, I notice Wooyoung waiting for me but what I did not plan was Younha practically jumping in my arms, making me drop the jacket I was holding and hug her tighter than ever.

Younha : You're finally back !
San : I wasn't expecting you so soon.
Younha : Yunho told me you were free, I couldn't wait for you anymore.
San : And I'm glad.
Wooyoung : So it's like this, I'm the one you live with but she's your favorite.

I roll my eyes to his fake sass and let go of Younha to hug Wooyoung.

San : I'm sorry about this mess.
Wooyoung : Yeah, you better apologize ! My dad was worried sick about you since the FBI asked him questions about your family's case.
San : I'll call him, I promise.
Wooyoung : Let's start by grabbing a bite, your girl's stomach has been groaning since we left.
Younha : That's not true !
Wooyoung : Don't lie, I heard it !

I missed them so much.

We ended up in a small restaurant where they updated me about everything that happened since I left them.

Younha : Hongjoong was so mad at the guy, I thought he was about to kill him, I don't think I've ever seen him this angry. Oh and he can't wait for you to work again, he's drowning under the unclassified bills.
San : I definitely won't be bored. Hey, did you get news from Jongho ? I haven't heard from him since he went to the hospital.
Younha : He's fine, thankfully he wasn't hurt too bad, he was back on his feet after two weeks.
Wooyoung : I still can't believe he's your cousin and you haven't known about him for 23 years !
San : Yeah, it's crazy.

We stayed for a whole hour in the restaurant before finally going home.
