Yunho comes in and opens the door of the cell, quickly cuffing me and dragging me with him.
Yunho : You have a visitor, don't you try to escape.
San : When will you understand that I surrendered ?
Yunho : Stay quiet.
He brings me in an almost empty room, there's only a table and a chair on each ends.
He signals me to sit on one of them and leaves the room again.
Mingi quickly reopens the door and someone follows him, my heart literally drops when I realize it's Younha. She quietly sits in front of me and looks me in the eyes for a short second before staring at the floor shyly.
Mingi : You have half an hour.
Younha : Thank you.
He leaves us alone as I analyze Younha from head to toe. She's wearing sweatpants which she only does when she's at home or when she feels bad, her eyes are still red and swollen from crying.
Younha : Hi.
San : Younha, why did you come here ?
Younha : Mingi told me what Hyeonsok made you go through and why you broke up with me. I want to hear it from you, is everything that he said true ?
San : It is, I'm sorry for hurting you.
Younha : So your brother is really dying ?
San : He is.
Younha : Is that why you wanted to stay with him ?
San : No, he told me when I was leaving. To make things clear, I never actually wanted to stay with him, I was looking for an excuse to keep you far away from me.
Younha : Why did you let me come with you when we left the city ?
San : I guess I was in denial, I didn't want to be away from you and you wanted to come. I'm sorry, it was selfish, I should've kept you away from me since the first time he mentioned your name.
Younha : No, I never would've left you alone.
San : How is everything going for you since last time we talked ?
Younha : I could say that everything is fine but that would be a lie. Seonghwa forced me to skip work today because on Saturday, I had a breakdown in front of customers when they asked for pink peonies, how pathetic am I.
As she tells her story, a tear drops down her cheek.
Younha : I really feel like shit lately.
San : It's my fault, I'm so sorry.
Younha : You got arrested, I think your situation is worse than mine, you don't need to apologize.
San : Yeah, if you say it like that, it sounds bad.
She scoffs at that and I look at her again. Even if she didn't get ready, she looks absolutely stunning. When I look at her neck, I can notice a thin silver chain peeking out from the coller of her sweater.
San : You're still wearing the necklace I got you ?
Younha : Oh hum, yeah. I never take it off, I love it.
San : Even after breaking up ?
Younha : Well, it may sound stupid but I can't seem stop loving you yet so I can't get rid of your memory.
San : Yet ?
Younha : I don't know anymore, just this morning I still hated you for lying and manipulating me and now, you chose to hurt both of us to protect me.
San : It's probably better if you keep hating me, I don't want to break your heart again.
Younha : What do you mean ?
San : When I was with Hyeonsok, he made me do things that are extremely illegal, I'm almost sure of ending up in prison even after they arrest him.
Younha : He forced you.
San : I don't think this excuse will protect me of everything. So if you don't know what to think of me, please keep on hating me.
Younha : I can't.
San : Just remember the pain I've putted you through.
Younha : How do you want me to hate you, you keep on sacrificing yourself for me ! Every second of this conversation makes me see the man that I love, not the one I thought had betrayed me, you keep on proving how much you care about me and how much it would hurt me to actually forget about you. San, I can't hate you anymore, I love you way too much for this !
San : I love you so much too, it's so hard having to treat you this way. I miss being with you, I miss hugging and kissing you. I miss everything about us.
She got me to break character, I can't even act like I don't care about her anymore.
Younha : You don't have to treat me this way, we just have to wait a little, until they arrest him. Then, we'll be free to be together.
San : Not if they arrest me too.
Younha : They won't, they know you. Hyeonsok forced you and they will understand it.
San : That would've worked one break up ago, now that I've hurt you, Yunho hates me even more than before.
Younha : I'll talk to him, please.
San : What if he gets out of prison ?
Younha : He's dying, he probably won't bother.
San : I really hope you're right.
Younha : What do you think ?
San : I think that I can't be happy without you, I'm ready to wait for as long as I need to.
A small smile appears on her lips, showing that she's happy to see me on the same page as her.
Mingi eventually comes back in the room.
Mingi : I'm sorry, your time is up.
Younha : Okay, I'll right out.
San : Thank you for coming.
Younha : See you soon Sannie.
She leaves with him and Yunho comes to get me back to my cell.
It's been so long since I haven't heard her voice calling me Sannie...
Half an hour with her made me realize that I was so wrong for even thinking I could live far away from her when I could actually die for her.
She's my reason to live, my reason to wait for Hyeonsok's arrest without giving up my life.
