CHAPTER 26

Younha

I look around the whole station until I find a door marked with "Jeong Yunho" and "Song Mingi" on the front. Found it.
I get inside and start looking through the desk with a plaque showing Yunho's name until I find a key, I really hope it's the right one.

I head back to the cells and turn the key in the lock, opening the door.
San comes out and drags me in his arms.

Younha : What's with you ?
San : Seeing you in front of me but not being able to touch you was pure torture.
Younha : How can you be romantic in such a situation ?
San : You make me romantic.
Yunho : Get a room.

We both turn around and see Yunho and Mingi standing in the door frame, looking at us with both disgusted and amused expressions.

Younha : Sorry.
San : You got here fast, didn't you get in trouble with the guys outside ?
Mingi : They heard our siren and hid, they might have thought we were more than one car.
Yunho : Enough chit chat, let's get out of here. And just so you know innocent boy, we have guns so don't try to escape while we're supposed to be helping you.
Mingi : Calm down, we can trust them.
Yunho : I don't know about "them", I only trust her.
San : Okay, what's your goddamn problem with me ? Have I done anything that offended you ?
Yunho : Oh you really want to know ?!
Mingi : Not now, we have to go.
Yunho : No, he wants to know why I can't fucking stand him, let me tell the story !
Mingi : Do it outside.
Yunho : Why waste another second ?!
Mingi : Because we are fucking surrounded again and we need to get the hell out before their boss comes back and finds this mess ! You'll deal with your issues once we're safe, it's not the priority.

I've never seen him get mad until now.
And Yunho clearly has something to say to Sannie, which would explain his attitude since we met him.
But as Mingi said, it's not the priority and we need to leave.

They take us through a hidden back door so we can escape discreetly in their car.
We start driving, a heavy silence reigning.

Younha : Where are we going ?
Mingi : Another, private, station.
Younha : Is it possible to make a stop ?
Mingi : Is it far away ?
Younha : Not that much, just go this way.

He takes the turn I just showed him and we eventually arrive to Jongho's car, still laying on the side of the road.

Younha : It's here !
Mingi : What happened ?
Younha : I need to make sure someone is okay.

I rapidly get out of the car and look around, followed closely by San and Mingi, Yunho staying in the car to watch our backs.

San : Younha, I found him.

I run to him and he points a inhert body in the dish next to the car.

Younha : Do you think he's alive...?
San : Only one way to find out.

He goes next to him, taking his pulse.

San : He is but we need to take him to a hospital.
Mingi : Who is that ?
Younha : Remember the person I told you about, who warned us about Hyeonsok ?
Mingi : So he's also the one who brought you back here. What happened to him ?
Younha : They ran into us, purposely, and took me while leaving him bleeding here.
Mingi : Yunho will take you two to the station, I'm staying here and calling an ambulance.
San : How do we know he won't try to get rid of me, seeing how much he appreciates me.
Younha : Stop acting like a child and let's go, you'll speak with him when we arrive.

We leave again and eventually get to their "private" station that is actually an office hidden in a poorly looking building.

Yunho : You can stay here until we get that video footage, only then you'll either be arrested for good or sent home.
San : What did you want to tell me ?
Yunho : You seriously want to do this on front of your girlfriend ?
San : I don't even know what you're about to say so yes, whatever I have to know, she can know it too.
Yunho : Fine, your brother destroyed my family. He's the reason why I started this job and also why I can't trust you or even stand you.
San : How exactly did he destroy your family ?
Yunho : My parents were struggling with money, they couldn't afford me and my two sisters so they came to ask him for money, his price was apparently lower than an actual bank. Turns out, he took my little sisters and raped them before killing them, after learning that, my father killed himself and my mother got interned in a asylum. So fucking blame me for hating you and trying to get your brother locked up !

Another silence. San looks to the ground, trying to find the right words.

San : I'm sorry...
Younha : That's horrible.
Yunho : It is, and that's why I have a goddamn problem with you.
San : I understand.

Looks like children from messed up families attract each other.
Mingi comes in, breaking the death like silence of the room.

Mingi : He's in the hospital, they're taking care of him.
Younha : Thank you.
Mingi : What's happening here ?
San : I need some air.

He gets up and goes in the next room, closing the door.

Mingi : You told him, didn't you.
Yunho : He wanted to know.
Mingi : I hope you didn't make him feel guilty, he's not responsible for Hyeonsok's actions.
Yunho : They have the same blood running through their veins, they're the same.
Younha : No they're not. Your story is terrible and nobody should have to go through this, so you can hate Hyeonsok all you want and you can hurt him as much as you like, it's all he would deserve. But San is very different, I've known him for almost two years now and no one is as caring and sweet and nice as him ! He's a good person, he would never dare to do half of what his brother has done, even to his worst enemy so don't put them in the same basket.
Mingi : She's right, you need to lay off his back.
Yunho : I'm going home.
Mingi : What ? Hey, come back here !

Yunho leaves the room, followed closely by Mingi. I take the opportunity to knock on the door where San is hiding.

Younha : Sannie, can I come in ?

He doesn't answer. I slowly push the door and see him anxiously walking around the room, crying.
I run to him and hug him, he puts his arms around my body and lets his head lay on my shoulder.

Younha : What's happening ?
San : My brother is a horrible person. You know I spent my whole life looking up to him, he was my hero, the one who saved my life on the despite of his. But now, he's just a rapist and murderer who destroyed a family ! How can you even stay with me when you know what he's done ?! What if Yunho was right and it was something genetic and I ended up doing something like this to you ?!
Younha : You're just freaking out, you'll never do something like this. Would you ?
San : Of course not but...
Younha : There you go. You're not a bad person and you know it.
San : I may not be but my family clearly didn't mean well. How can you still be with me ?!
Younha : It doesn't matter how many bad things your family did, I fucking love you San and nothing is ever gonna change that. Wipe those goddamn tears out of your face and kiss the hell out of me.
