CHAPTER 24

Younha

We've been living in town for a year now. We haven't heard from the FBI or Hyeonsok since the day we left Seoul and we still don't know for how long we'll be here.
All the fighting that was happening before calmed down, we both understood how the other was feeling and that made everything much better.

San : Younha...
Younha : Yes ?
San : Look outside.

We were having breakfast inside the house. I turned my head to the window behind me and see a black car pulling up.

Younha : Which one do you think it is ?
San : I've never hoped so much to see Yunho and Mingi. Stay here, I'm gonna check that out.

He goes out and I can thankfully see both of the FBI agents coming out of the car.
I join them outside, hoping to hear a good news.

Younha : You're finally coming to see us !
Mingi : I'm sorry Younha but we're not here for what you think.
San : Then why are you here ?
Yunho : Choi San, you're under arrest.
San : What ?!
Mingi : We've found your DNA on a crime scene related to Hyeonsok, we have to arrest you before you can be proven innocent.
San : What crime scene, I've been here for a goddamn year !
Yunho : It's a year and half old case, the day after the shooting happened.
Younha : How is that even possible, he was with me the whole time, you can't arrest him !
Mingi : We don't have a choice, the orders are coming from our boss and we don't have a say on it.
San : What was the crime that I apparently committed without knowing it ?
Yunho : The murder of the head of a rival gang, your DNA was all over the body.
San : That asshole framed me.
Yunho : We'll discuss that at the station, for now you should remain silent if you don't want anything used against you.
Younha : You're not taking him anywhere !
Mingi : We have to, it would only make it more suspicious if we come back without him.
San : It'll be okay honey, we'll sort this out.

I throw myself in his arms and he hugs me tightly.

San : I will come back, I promise.
Younha : I know, you're innocent so they can't lock you up.
San : I love you Younha.
Younha : I love you too, so much.
Yunho : We have to go.

They cuff San and he goes in the backseat of the car. Yunho gets in the driver's seat and before going in the passenger's seat, Mingi comes to see me.

Mingi : I'm sorry this is happening, we all know San is innocent and we'll do everything we can to prove it. For now, we have to bring him to the station and tomorrow morning, we'll come to take you back to Seoul.
Younha : Please take care of him.
Mingi : We will.

He gets in the car and they drive away, living me alone in the house.

I spent most of the afternoon walking around the house panicking about what would happen to San. What if things went wrong, what if I couldn't see him again ?
I swear if I could, I would kill his brother for hurting everyone I love. First Seonghwa, now San. I wish I had the power to make him pay !

I'm suddenly brought back to reality and out of my thoughts when I hear someone knocking on the door.
What now ?!

I peek an eye through the window and see Jongho, San's cousin, standing at the front door. I go and open it for him to come inside.

Jongho : Are you okay ?
Younha : I am, I guess. How did you get here ?
Jongho : I followed the FBI's car. You can't stay here, he's coming for you.
Younha : Who ?
Jongho : Hyeonsok, he got San away from you so that he can take you as a hostage and pressure San to join him.
Younha : How will he get San to join if he got him arrested ?
Jongho : He will easily be proven innocent, don't worry about that but you can not stay here any longer, go pack and I'm taking you back to Seoul before he hurts you.
Younha : I have to tell the FBI, do you have a phone I can borrow ?
Jongho : I do but you have to be quick.
Younha : I will.

After making a quick call to Mingi and resuming him everything, still without mentioning Jongho's name, we leave the house in his car.

Younha : How did you know he was coming, are you working with him ?
Jongho : I'm not but he still tells everything to my parents, who are working with him. I just happened to listen to the right conversation.
Younha : Thank you for helping me but why are you doing it, why did you come to warn us about Hyeonsok ?
Jongho : He spent his whole life hurting people and I couldn't do anything about it. But now that I can make a difference, and save my cousin, I will do it and try to stop him.
Younha : So you knew about San the whole time ?
Jongho : I knew he existed, but that's it. I didn't have any other informations about him but I really wanted to meet him someday, he's part of my family. I just wish it hadn't been in those conditions.
Younha : We haven't really talked about it but I'm sure he's happy to know he still has a family. At least some normal people in it.

I turned my head to him and that's when I noticed some bruises on his arms and scratches on his face.

Younha : You're hurt, what happened to you ?
Jongho : Hyeonsok found out I came to see you two and he got his revenge pretty much everytime he saw me.
Younha : Oh yeah, he mentioned you. Are you okay ?
Jongho : I will be, I'm not scared of him and you shouldn't be either, you're a way too good hostage against San, he'll do anything for you and Hyeonsok knows it. He will try to hurt you but he won't get rid of you.
Younha : You said San would be proven innocent quickly, what'll happen ?
Jongho : The "DNA" that was found was from Hyeonsok's visit to your apartment, he managed to get San's hair or something. But he will anonymously share video footage of the murder to bail him out.
Younha : So we have to get Sannie back before he can as soon as this video comes out.
Jongho : You're a fast learner, aren't you.
