CHAPTER 30

Younha

I used the rest of the day to see Hongjoong and Seonghwa at the store. I was so happy to see them again !
They didn't hire anyone new for a whole year and waited for San and I to come back, which means I can start working with them again.
I told them everything about the year that passed by and it was really a healing moment.

Although, I didn't get any news from San, I don't know if he got released or not. Did he get back home to see Wooyoung ?
I tried calling him but he didn't answer, maybe I should call Mingi.

Calling Mingi

Mingi : Hi Younha, is everything okay ?
Younha : Yes, I saw everyone again. I'm just calling to get some news about San, he's not answering his phone.
Mingi : Really ? He got released early this morning and went back home. Maybe you can try going there ?
Younha : Okay, I will, thank you !

About half an hour later, I get in front of his apartment's door and knock. Wooyoung quickly opens and when he recognizes me, he stares at me for a second.

Wooyoung : Younha, you're back ?!
Younha : Um, yeah, I came back with San. Didn't he tell you ?
Wooyoung : He didn't come here.
Younha : What ? The FBI told me he left just this morning to come see you.
Wooyoung : I can assure you, he wasn't here.
Younha : Are you sure ?!
Wooyoung : I am, and I'm also starting to think something has happened to him.
Younha : Oh no, no, not again !

After another call to the FBI, we started looking around the neighborhood while I explained everything that happened to Wooyoung.
But when the night arrived, nobody had found anything about San.

And we stayed without any news from him for a whole month.
I couldn't stay alone in my apartment so Yeosang told me to move in with him.
I also restarted work but it definitely wasn't as good as we all expected since San was still missing.

It's now Tuesday evening, I just left the store and arrived at the apartment. When I push the door, I leave my shoes at the entry as usual and get inside.

Younha : I'm home.
Yeosang : Good timing, come to the kitchen.

I join him in the room and also see Yunho. They're both looking at some video on an FBI laptop.

Yunho : We found the security video footage of Wooyoung's building. We know what happened to San.
Younha : Is it good news...?
Yunho : No, it's exactly what we feared actually. His brother found him and kidnapped him.
Younha : Do you know where he took him ?
Yunho : No, but we have the car's license plate, we're gonna look around the city to find it.
Younha : What if they left Seoul ?!
Yunho : That's another question, we're starting small and we'll extend the research zone little by little.
Younha : We don't have time for that, je could already be dead !
Yeosang : Calm down, everything will be okay.
Younha : He's been missing for a month, how do you want me to call down ?!
Yeosang : We can't do anything more than this anyway.
Yunho : I'll call you whenever we get some news about the car.

I'm gonna go crazy, Hyeonsok kidnapped San and I have to fucking wait for them to find a stupid car that may not even bring us to where they are ?! And everyone just expects me to stay put and not do anything !

Seonghwa : Younha, are you even listening to me ?

I turn to him, he's arranging some flowers for a customer that needs to pick them up later.
I've been waiting for news from Yunho for a week now and I'm seriously getting impatient.

Seonghwa : What's wrong with you today ?
Younha : I'm just sick and tired of waiting after the FBI, I want to see San.
Seonghwa : We've been through this, you can't do anything else.
Younha : He could be dead !
Seonghwa : Then you couldn't bring him back to life. You have got to think about something else !
Younha : I can't I'm so worried about him.
Seonghwa : You know what, we're closing the store together tonight, let's pass by the FBI on our way home. We can ask how it's going.
Younha : Fine.

As he promised, around 7pm, we get to the station. I introduce myself to the receptionist and ask to see either Yunho or Mingi but she won't let me in.
Luckily, Mingi passes by and comes to me.

Mingi : Younha ? What are you doing here, we didn't call you, did we ?
Younha : I just want to know where the investigation is at.
Mingi : Come with me, we'll go in my office.

He makes sit on the two chairs in front of him and pulls out Hyeonsok's file. He looks through it for a second then looks back at us.

Mingi : Where did we stop ?
Younha : You were looking for the car.
Mingi : You didn't get news after this ?
Younha : No, why, do you know where he is ?!
Mingi : We found the car yesterday and what we think is Hyeonsok's head quarter.
Younha : Did you go inside ?
Mingi : Not yet, the team wasn't prepared for an intervention.
Younha : When are you going ?
Mingi : Yunho's in charge of the schedule.
Yunho : What schedule ?

He comes in the office.

Yunho : Oh, hello Younha. I was about to call you but I guess you were faster.
Younha : How could you not tell me you knew where he was ?
Yunho : We're not sure yet and trust me, this has been a busy day so I didn't get much time to contact you.
Mingi : When did you say the intervention was ?
Yunho : In three days, it's very risky and we need to get ready for any kind of fight back.
Younha : I'm coming with you.
Mingi : Absolutely not.
Yunho : No way.
Seonghwa : Are you crazy ? I'm not letting you go in there.
Younha : But I need to find San !
Yunho : We're taking care of it, we're doing the best we can.
Younha : You're always saying this but it took a whole month to get things moving !
Seonghwa : Younha, I know you're worried about San but you need to be patient. From what I understood, his brother is very dangerous and we can't just attack him whenever we find him.
Mingi : Exactly, he will fight back and who knows what he's ready to do. We're not even sure to be able to get inside.
Younha : That's why you'll need me, I could distract him, he'll be focused on me and you could get in.
Yunho : I hate to admit it but that's actually not a bad plan.
Mingi : Maybe we can use someone else as a distraction.
Yunho : Who ?
Mingi : Maybe San's cousin ?
Yunho : That will never be as interesting as her. Hyeonsok knows that Younha is San's weakness, he tried to use her more than once so if he has the occasion, he'll do it again.
Mingi : Fine but you're wearing a bulletproof vest and a wire.
Seonghwa : Kang Younha, you'll be the death of me.
