Alicia looked so pale as she entered the office, and Cath greeted her.
"Good morning po, Mayor Alicia," she said with a smile. Alicia smiled back weakly and sat in her chair.
"Ate Cath, kamusta ang Brgy. Banaba? Nabigyan na ba ng relief goods ang mga nasunugan?" she asked.
"Yes, Mayor. Nabigyan na po kahapon, at malaki po ang pasasalamat nila sa inyo. Tunay raw po na tinutupad mo ang pangako mo," Cath replied. Alicia smiled upon hearing it. Helping her fellow Santander citizens filled her heart with joy, kaya mas gusto niyang maglibot-libot sa buong Santander para malaman at maibigay ang pangangailangan nila.
"Yung mga katutubo, kamusta?" she asked, more lively.
"Before I forget, Mayor, pinadalhan kayo ng invitation para sa Pista. Dadalo po ba kayo?" Cath asked.
"Yeah, sure! Kailan yan?"
"Next Saturday pa po, Ma'am." Tumango si Alicia at ibinalik ang atensyon sa mga papeles sa harapan niya.
Meanwhile, Marco was undergoing therapy, and his condition was improving. Nakakalakad na siya kahit wala ang therapist niya, gamit lang ang tungkod. Someone knocked on the door and entered.
"Mommy!" the twins shouted as they ran towards her. Sinalubong niya ang mga anak ng yakap.
"Mommy, miss you so much... How are you?" she asked while her tears flowed from the loneliness she had been feeling for her sons.
"We miss you na po, Mommy. Aren't you going home? Mommy Risa always calls us, but you don't call us at night," Cal said. Alicia was shocked at Calvin's words, especially since they had not been very talkative as young children. She realized there were so many things she had missed while watching her twins grow up.
"I'm so sorry, anak. Daddy is sick kasi, but he will get well soon. Alam niyo ba, nakakalakad na si Daddy?" she asked. The twins didn't seem to care. "Why?" she wondered, confused by her sons' reactions.
"We don't care at all. He always makes excuses to stay with you rather than stay with us," Gavin said angrily. Alicia was shocked to see Gavin behave that way.
"Gavin, he's your Dad-"
"Mom, please stop defending him. He's not our Dad; he's a monster," Gavin shouted. Out of shock, Alicia slapped the boy lightly.
"Ate?!" Maris pulled Gavin to her, who was in shock after what Alicia did. Alicia was stunned, too, and slowly looked at the hand she used to slap Gavin. "He has a point, Ate. Hindi ka na nga umuuwi ng bahay dahil kay Kuya. Pati ang mga bata, hindi mo na maalagaan ng maayos dahil mas inaalagaan mo ang lalaking iyon-" she shouted.
"I'm sorry. Nabigla lang ako," Alicia said as tears slowly flowed down her face. "Gav, please forgive Mommy, anak," she pleaded, holding Gavin, who was still in shock, staring at her. Gavin seemed traumatized, and when Alicia tried to touch him again, he recoiled. "Gavin, anak, I'm so sorry."
