Alicia woke up early in the morning while Risa was still sleeping. It was the first time in months that Risa had slept so soundly. She looked at the sleeping Senator and gently touched her soft cheeks.

"Gosh, you're even more attractive when you're asleep. Wala ka pa ring pinagbago," she smiled, moving closer and planting a gentle kiss on Risa's cheek. Afterward, she stood up, preparing to go check on her sons. It was past 6 AM, and she needed to attend to them.

"Nanny?" she called, looking for the yaya of her children. The nanny was already preparing the boys' things while they were still asleep. "Nanny, nakatulog ka po ba nang maayos?"

"Nanny, nakatulog ka po ba nang maayos?"

"Opo, Mayora. Ahm, pasensya na po, hindi ko po naalagaan ng doble si Gavin at Calvin," she bowed her head apologetically. Alicia gently held her shoulder.

"Wala kang kasalanan. I'm the mother; dapat ako talaga ang nag-aalaga sa kanila. But unfortunately, I have work to do, kaya napabayaan ko sila. Thank you for caring for my children, Nanny," Alicia said, her voice full of gratitude.

"Salamat po sa pagtitiwala, Mayora."

"Salamat din po. Oh siya, magpahinga ka muna, Nanny," Alicia said as she placed her bag on the side table.

"Okay lang po, Mayora. Isa pa po, kukuha din po ako ng gamit ng mga bata at maglalaba ng damit nila," the nanny replied.

"Sige, Nanny. Pero pwede po bang pakisabi kay Rina na padalhan niya ako ng pamalit dito, at isama na rin yung mga gamit ng mga bata? Tapos ikaw, magpahinga ka ha?" Alicia instructed, and the nanny nodded.

"Salamat po, Mayora," the nanny said. She was about to arrange things before she left, but Alicia handed her some money. "Nako po, Mayora, kakabigay niyo lang po ng sahod nung nakaraang linggo," the nanny politely declined.

"Nanny, kunin mo na, pamasahi mo rin yan," Alicia smiled, and the nanny finally accepted the money and left the room.

"Good morning po, Mayor," the nurse greeted.

"Good morning, Nurse," Alicia smiled back. She checked her sons' temperatures as the nurse brought in food: white rice, nilagang baboy, fish, and fruits for the twins. "Ahhh, Nurse, do you have bread po?" she asked, knowing her sons probably wouldn't eat what was prepared.

"Yes po, Ma'am. Do you want us to get some bread po?" the nurse asked.

"Yes, please," Alicia replied, and the nurse quickly excused herself to get the bread. Meanwhile, another nurse had finished checking the twins. "How are my twins, Nurse?"

"Mayor, Calvin is okay, but he needs more rest. Gavin, however, has not improved. His temperature is still high. I have to call the doctor for this, Mayor," the nurse said, clearly worried. They had tried everything, but Gavin's condition remained the same.

Alicia rushed to Gavin's side, holding his hand and whispering, "I'm here, Anak. Please, lumaban ka." Tears streamed down her face. Maris noticed and placed a comforting hand on her sister's shoulder to calm her. Calvin had woken up by then, and Maris carried him over.
