Chapter 5: A Chance Encounter
After delivering a torturous death to the betrayer, Namjoon found himself driving home alone, the rhythmic sound of raindrops against his car providing an unusual solace. The road was desolate, flanked by towering trees that seemed to close in on him, creating a cocoon of isolation. It was a familiar setting for Namjoon, a place where he often sought refuge from the chaos of his life. The tranquility was broken only by the occasional rumble of thunder, echoing his tumultuous thoughts.
As he navigated the winding road, something unexpected caught his eye. In the midst of the pouring rain, a figure danced gracefully, draped in soft white and sky blue fabrics that shimmered against the darkened backdrop of the storm. Namjoon's heart skipped a beat. This ethereal beauty, completely oblivious to the world around them, moved with a fluidity that captivated him. For the first time, he felt his usual calculated mind give way to something deeper—a longing he had never allowed himself to explore.
Compelled by an unknown force, Namjoon made a decision that was foreign to him; he stepped out of the car, mesmerized by the sight before him. It felt as though the earth had stilled, allowing him to drink in the beauty of this angelic figure. His thoughts were consumed with a singular idea: mine to claim. The innocence radiating from this stranger was intoxicating, making Namjoon feel like he was witnessing a divine creation.
As if fate had orchestrated their meeting, the figure suddenly locked eyes with Namjoon. It was Jin, his soft features illuminated by the rain and the dim light surrounding them. Unaware of the darkness that lingered just beyond his gentle exterior, Jin saw Namjoon’s wounds—blood trickling down from his forehead and arm, remnants of the violent encounter he had just escaped. Rather than retreating in fear, Jin’s heart swelled with empathy.
“Hey, mister! You need some first aid. Come, let me help you,” Jin called out, his voice like music to Namjoon’s ears. The warmth and purity in Jin’s tone pulled Namjoon out of his daze. Despite his usual wariness, Namjoon found himself nodding and following Jin without a second thought, completely entranced.
Jin led Namjoon to his modest home, a quaint place filled with warmth and the scent of fresh coffee. After quickly changing into dry clothes, Jin took charge of the situation, meticulously tending to Namjoon’s wounds. He worked with a gentleness that contrasted sharply with Namjoon's usual interactions, where force and control ruled the day.
As Jin applied the bandage to Namjoon’s arm, he stole glances at him, finding it hard to believe someone so wounded could also possess such an air of strength. Namjoon, for his part, was overwhelmed by the simple yet exquisite taste of the coffee Jin offered him, each sip further intoxicating him with feelings he thought he had buried long ago.
Just then, Jin’s grandmother entered the room. Her initial surprise turned to recognition, and she quickly sized up the situation. Knowing Namjoon’s reputation, her expression morphed from shock to concern. Jin’s innocence, however, remained blissfully unaware of the danger lurking in the man sitting before him. After namjoon let jin's granny turned to him and said, “Jin, don’t you know who this man is?” she scolded, her voice laced with urgency. “He’s very cruel and ruthless.”
Jin’s heart sank at the realization that he had unknowingly assisted someone dangerous. “But he was hurt!” he protested, tears welling up in his eyes. “I just wanted to help him.”
Seeing her grandson’s distress softened the grandmother’s heart. She embraced Jin tightly, reassuring him. “It’s okay, my angel. You did well to help. You’re a good soul.” Jin wiped his eyes, comforted by her words, even as he continued to feel the weight of her worries.
As Namjoon drove away, his heart raced with thoughts of Jin—the way he had danced in the rain, the softness of his voice, and the purity in his eyes. Namjoon found himself grappling with unfamiliar emotions, a mix of longing and a desire to protect this innocent soul from the darkness that surrounded them.
