Chapter 73: The Unbreakable Bond

After teasing Jin for some time, the night eventually slowed down. The atmosphere shifted into something softer, more personal. Jin, with his curiosity piqued, finally turned to Namjoon, his eyes full of questions.

"So... what happened next?" Jin asked, his voice a quiet murmur in the dim room.

Namjoon sighed, leaning back against his chair. "You really want to know?" he asked, but it was clear from Jin's insistent look that the answer was already decided.

Namjoon, almost as if resigning to the inevitable, began to recount the next part of his story. Slowly, the present dissolved into the past, pulling them into a flashback.

---

Yoongi and Namjoon had started university together, even though they were enrolled in different courses and had completely different schedules. Despite this, they were inseparable. From breakfast to lunch and sometimes even dinner, they made it a point to meet, to sit together, and talk. It was rare to see one without the other. Their bond was far deeper than just shared time; it was the result of two lonely souls who had finally found someone they could rely on.

Yoongi, who had been lonely his entire life, found something comforting in Namjoon’s presence. Growing up in a world where trust was a fragile thing and companionship even more elusive, Yoongi had never expected to find someone like Namjoon. Someone who was, for the lack of a better word, genuine. He couldn’t imagine losing him. His guarded heart, slowly but surely, began to open.

On the other hand, Namjoon had never had a real friend either. Raised in an environment where work and training consumed every part of him, there had never been space for something as trivial as friendship. In Yoongi, he found a kindred spirit. Someone who didn’t just see him as the son of a powerful family or a future leader, but as Namjoon.

Every morning, they met for breakfast, their conversations ranging from schoolwork to life, to random thoughts about the universe. They’d laugh, share notes, and sometimes, they didn’t even need words—just being in each other’s company was enough.

Yoongi’s musical talent didn’t go unnoticed by Namjoon. Whenever Yoongi would lose himself in composing or writing lyrics, Namjoon would sit by his side, fascinated by how his mind worked. Namjoon didn’t fully understand music, but he appreciated the passion Yoongi poured into it. And Yoongi, for the first time, had someone who didn’t just respect his talent but supported it.

"You're too good at this, Hyung," Namjoon would often say with a small smile, watching Yoongi scribble notes.

Yoongi would scoff, "It's not that big a deal, Joon."

But it was. To Namjoon, it was.

Their lunches together were often filled with comfortable silences, both of them just content to eat while knowing they had someone they could trust sitting right across from them. In a world where they were always expected to be something more than themselves, they found peace in each other's presence. It was rare, and it was precious.

As time passed, the bond only grew stronger. They became each other's shadows, the kind of friends who didn't need to say much to understand each other. They were bound by shared experiences of isolation and the mutual understanding of what it meant to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.

But the truth was, neither of them wanted to admit how much the other meant. Yoongi, with his cold exterior, had never been the type to express his emotions openly. Namjoon, despite his strength, was still figuring out what it meant to truly care for someone.

---

As Namjoon continued telling the story, Jin listened closely, watching his face soften as he spoke of those early days. The depth of his bond with Yoongi was unmistakable.

"Seems like you guys were inseparable," Jin commented, his tone gentle.

Namjoon nodded slowly, a fond smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah... we were."

For a moment, Namjoon’s thoughts lingered on that time, on how their friendship had shaped both of them. And as the room fell silent again, Jin could sense that there was still more to the story waiting to be revealed.
