Chapter 6: A Wet Misunderstanding

Suga stepped into their room after a long day, expecting the usual calmness that characterized their space. Instead, he was greeted by an unexpected sight that made his heart race. From the open poolside area, he spotted J-Hope, lost in a world of his own, dancing in the gentle drizzle. The rain had lightened to a soft mist, the air around him filled with the fresh scent of earth and foliage. Unaware of Suga's presence, J-Hope twirled gracefully, his laughter ringing like music through the air, his vibrant energy captivating the moment.

Suga paused, his heart warming at the sight of his husband's carefree spirit, but a mix of concern and disbelief washed over him. “What is he doing?” he thought, knowing full well that J-Hope was usually the more playful of the two. Just as he was about to step forward and pull J-Hope back to safety, the unexpected happened.

In a flurry of movement, J-Hope turned around, startled by a noise behind him. His eyes widened in surprise as he lost his balance, falling backward into the pool. In an instinctive reaction, Suga lunged forward to grab him, but instead, he slipped and fell in as well. The splash of water echoed through the stillness of the evening, their bodies sinking momentarily before they surfaced, both dripping wet and wide-eyed in shock.

For a moment, the world around them faded away. The rain had stopped, and the air was now thick with the scent of wet earth. Suga and J-Hope remained frozen in the pool, gazes locked, their hearts pounding in sync. The intimacy of the moment enveloped them, and for those fleeting seconds, everything else faded into oblivion.

Meanwhile, outside their room, the mischievous Maknae line—Taehyung and Jungkook—had been lurking, intending to pull a prank on their older brother and his new husband. Hearing J-Hope’s startled scream as he fell, their imaginations ran wild. “Oh no! What if Suga is hurting him?” they thought, concern overtaking their mischief.

Fueled by protective instincts, they barged into the room without knocking, bursting into the pool area only to find Suga and J-Hope, both soaked and still lost in each other's eyes. Taehyung’s eyes widened in surprise, his expression shifting from concern to teasing delight. “Oh ho! Romancing in the water, I see!” he said with a playful smirk, making Jungkook snicker beside him.

Suga snapped out of his daze, quickly realizing the situation. His cheeks flushed as he pulled J-Hope upright and out of the water. “Get out!” he shouted, shooting a glare at the younger brothers. The expression on his face could have frozen fire, but it only made J-Hope giggle softly, still dazed by the unexpected fall and the enchanting moment they had just shared.

Jungkook and Taehyung, however, were far from deterred. “C’mon, we won’t tell anyone if you let us stay,” Jungkook coaxed, trying to play innocent. But Suga was having none of it.

“I’m going to tell everyone about your little ‘gift’ to the principal,” Suga warned, a devious glint in his eye. “How about I mention how you both got caught trying to sneak out to the university to meet him for an early Christmas present?”

The two younger brothers’ expressions turned sheepish, instantly sobering them. “Okay, okay! We’ll leave!” Taehyung said, raising his hands in mock surrender. They quickly retreated, giggling but knowing when they were outmatched.

Once the door closed behind them, Suga turned back to J-Hope, his expression softening slightly. “Go change into something warm,” he instructed, his tone still firm but laced with concern. J-Hope nodded, not wanting to upset his husband further, and hurried to the bathroom to change.

As J-Hope changed, Suga quietly reflected on the events of the evening. His heart was still racing, not just from the shock of the fall, but from the unexpected joy of the moment they had shared. But he also felt a twinge of frustration—J-Hope's playful nature was going to be a challenge to reign in, especially on their first night together.

Once J-Hope emerged, his hair damp and hanging loosely around his shoulders, he wore an oversized sweatshirt that drowned his frame. His demeanor, however, was subdued, his head hanging low as if bracing for a reprimand. Suga’s heart softened again, realizing how J-Hope had assumed he would be scolded for the night’s antics.

Suga went into the bathroom to change, and after a quick shower, he donned comfortable loungewear. When he returned to the main area, he sat across from J-Hope, arms crossed, fixing him with a serious gaze. The atmosphere was heavy with anticipation as J-Hope stood in front of him, resembling a child awaiting a teacher's judgment.

“J-Hope,” Suga started, his voice calm but authoritative, “what were you thinking, dancing in the rain like that? You could’ve gotten hurt!”

“I... I just wanted to have some fun,” J-Hope replied, his voice small, feeling the weight of Suga’s eyes upon him. “I didn’t mean to fall. I’m sorry.”

Suga’s heart ached at J-Hope’s vulnerability. He was amazed that J-Hope could turn their first night into such a chaotic yet tender moment. “You need to be more careful. You can’t just do things without thinking of the consequences,” Suga said, trying to maintain his stern tone.

J-Hope nodded, still looking downcast. The sight tugged at Suga’s heartstrings, and despite the disappointment he felt, he couldn’t stay angry at his husband for long.

“Go to sleep, okay? Good night,” Suga finally said, softening his tone. J-Hope looked up, surprised but relieved, and his face broke into a beaming smile. “Good night, Suga,” he replied, happiness flooding his features as he climbed into bed, grateful that he hadn’t been scolded after all.

Suga settled into his side of the bed, feeling a mix of exhaustion and contentment wash over him. As he closed his eyes, he couldn’t help but smile at the day’s events. Though their night hadn’t gone as planned, it was a reminder that their journey together would be filled with surprises and laughter.

As the moonlight filtered into the room, illuminating their surroundings, the gentle sounds of the night wrapped around them. With the promise of a new day on the horizon, Suga and J-Hope drifted into sleep, their hearts intertwined in ways neither could yet fully comprehend.
