Chapter 9: The Family Talks
A week had passed since Suga and J-Hope's wedding, a week since Tae and Jungkook had met Jimin, and a week since Namjoon had encountered Jin's captivating beauty. Life in the Kim mansion had settled into a comfortable rhythm, with each family member adjusting to their new roles. But today, Mrs. Kim had something on her mind that would stir up a whirlwind of laughter and embarrassment.
In the living room, the atmosphere was cozy. Mrs. Kim sat with J-Hope, gently holding his hands in hers. Her eyes sparkled with love and affection as she gazed at her son. “My dear son,” she began, her tone laced with warmth, “you know that every family needs a baby to play with. A baby who will be a part of their family.”
J-Hope, still innocent and a bit perplexed, tilted his head. “Mom, yes, babies fill life with happiness and all.” His response was pure, reflecting his childlike understanding of the world around him.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kim, who had been seated nearby, wore a dumbfounded expression. He knew exactly where this conversation was heading and felt a sense of impending doom wash over him. “Please, not this again,” he thought, bracing himself for what was to come.
Mrs. Kim continued, “Baby, you know, a baby can only come after marriage in life.”
“Okay…” J-Hope replied, still in the dark but eager to understand.
“You and Suga are married now,” Mrs. Kim stated, her eyes gleaming with excitement. “You both should have a baby, right?”
J-Hope’s confusion deepened. “But Mom,” he stammered, “how will we bring a baby? How will we make a baby?” His innocent question caused Mr. Kim to choke on his water, spraying a fine mist across the table.
In the background, two maids, busy with their chores, overheard J-Hope’s question. They bumped into each other in surprise, causing a cacophony of falling utensils that echoed through the living room. Mrs. Kim turned her attention to the noise, momentarily distracted, while the maids quickly apologized and retreated, still giggling at J-Hope’s naïveté.
“Baby, you don’t know how a baby is made?” Mrs. Kim asked, her eyebrows raised in disbelief.
“No,” J-Hope responded, genuinely curious.
Realizing that it might take years for her son to grasp this concept, Mrs. Kim felt a twinge of panic. “What if I have to wait five years for a grandchild?” she thought, feeling the pressure of time weigh down on her.
Just then, Namjoon strolled into the living room, blissfully unaware of the impending disaster that awaited him. In Mr. Kim's heart, he silently pleaded with his son, “Stop where you are! Don’t come any closer; you’re walking into a lion’s den!”
“Joon-ah,” Mrs. Kim beamed, her eyes lighting up at the sight of her second son. “Did you know that your elder brother is married now?”
Namjoon, puzzled, responded, “Yes, I know.”
“Don’t you think it’s now your turn?” Mrs. Kim continued, her voice dripping with expectation. “So that with this little Suga, we can see little Namjoon’s playing around too? Imagine Suga's children and everything!”
Namjoon, realizing where this conversation was headed, felt the pressure mounting. He wasn’t quite sure how to navigate this conversation. But just as he was about to stammer out a response, his lifesaver rang—a phone call from one of his associates. “Mom, it’s important; I have to take this,” he said hurriedly, and he swiftly exited the room.
Meanwhile, in the corner of the living room, Jungkook and Taehyung peeked out from behind a wall, their heads barely visible as they watched the interaction unfold with glee. They had been scheming all morning, and now they were thoroughly entertained by their mother’s efforts to ensure a grandchild.
Mrs. Kim, oblivious to the weight of her words and the events that were about to unfold, looked at her husband with a determined expression. “I want a grandchild, and I will get it by hook or by crook!”
Mr. Kim, unable to control his laughter and aware of his wife’s wild imagination, shook his head and made his way out of the living room. He knew all too well that the conversation was far from over and that his wife’s determination was unyielding.
As the morning unfolded, the atmosphere was charged with humor and anticipation. J-Hope, still blissfully ignorant, wondered how he would go about this “baby” thing. In the meantime, Tae and Jungkook were already plotting their next adventure, reveling in the chaos their family was known for. Little did they know, the Kims were about to embark on a journey filled with love, laughter, and the delightful messiness of family life.
With the air thick with unspoken plans and sibling mischief, the day promised to bring more than just breakfast; it held the potential for memories that would be cherished for years to come. As they sat together, laughing and joking, the true essence of family was on full display—a beautiful, chaotic, and endlessly entertaining dance of love.
