A Weekend Away
The media frenzy after their performance of Rumours was more intense than Georgie and Morgan had expected. Every major outlet was speculating about their relationship, and fans were relentlessly trying to piece together clues. Every TikTok, every interview, every moment they shared in public was analyzed to death.
Both Georgie and Morgan knew they needed to escape the madness, if only for a little while.
Morgan had suggested it one night while they were lying low in Georgie's apartment, scrolling through the endless barrage of articles and fan theories. "How about we get away for a bit?" he had said, his voice soft but serious. "Just you and me. No media, no fans. Somewhere quiet."
Georgie had smiled at the idea. A weekend away sounded like exactly what they needed. "Where do we go where people won't find us?"
Morgan had grinned, leaning back on the couch. "I've got a spot in mind. Trust me."
A few days later, they packed up and hit the road, heading to a secluded cabin that Morgan knew about. It was tucked away in the mountains, far from the prying eyes of the media and the constant hum of social media. The drive was long, but Georgie didn't mind. For the first time in weeks, she felt like they could just... be.
When they arrived at the cabin, Georgie was struck by how peaceful it was. Surrounded by towering trees and the soft sounds of nature, it felt like a world away from the chaos of Nashville. Morgan helped her unpack their bags, both of them laughing as they carried in groceries and supplies for the weekend.
"This place is perfect," Georgie said, looking around the cozy interior of the cabin. "How'd you find it?"
Morgan shrugged, smiling. "I come up here sometimes when I need a break from everything. It's always been my escape."
Georgie nodded, understanding the need for a place like this. "I think we both needed this."
Morgan smiled, his eyes soft as he looked at her. "Yeah. We did."
That first evening, they decided to keep things simple. Morgan built a fire while Georgie cooked dinner, the two of them moving easily around the kitchen and living room, the silence between them comfortable and easy. After dinner, they sat on the porch, wrapped in blankets, watching the stars flicker to life in the night sky.
"It feels weird not having my phone buzzing every five minutes," Georgie admitted, her head resting on Morgan's shoulder. "I forgot what quiet feels like."
Morgan chuckled, his arm draped around her shoulders. "Yeah, it's nice to shut out the world for a bit."
They sat like that for a long time, the sounds of the forest surrounding them. It was peaceful in a way that neither of them had experienced in weeks. Here, in the quiet, they could just be themselves—no cameras, no rumors, no pressure.
"I like this," Georgie said softly. "Just us."
Morgan nodded, his hand gently squeezing her shoulder. "Me too."
The next morning, they decided to go for a hike, exploring the trails around the cabin. It was a perfect day—the sun was shining, the air was crisp, and for once, neither of them had to worry about being spotted or interrupted. They laughed as they climbed over rocks, pointing out birds and wildflowers along the way.
It was during the hike that Morgan turned to Georgie, a playful smile on his face. "So, this is technically our first proper date, huh?"
Georgie grinned, pretending to think it over. "I guess it is. Hiking through the woods on a first date—pretty romantic, don't you think?"
Morgan laughed, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Hey, I could've taken you to some fancy restaurant, but where's the fun in that?"
Georgie shook her head, still smiling. "This is better. Way better."
As they walked, the conversation flowed easily between them, switching between teasing banter and deeper topics about their lives, careers, and what they wanted for the future. For the first time since they had admitted their feelings for each other, it felt like they could breathe, like they could finally focus on themselves and not the world around them.
That evening, after another simple but delicious dinner, they sat by the firepit outside, roasting marshmallows and sharing stories about their childhoods. Morgan told her about growing up in Tennessee, the small town feel, and how music had always been his escape. Georgie shared stories of her own, talking about her parents and the small ranch she had grown up on.
"You should see it," Georgie said, poking at her marshmallow. "The ranch. It's beautiful out there."
Morgan smiled. "Maybe one day, I will."
As the fire crackled and the stars blinked above them, Georgie felt a warmth spread through her chest. It wasn't just the fire or the marshmallows—it was being here with Morgan, away from the noise, away from everything that had made their relationship so complicated.
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the night wrapping around them like a blanket. Morgan turned to her after a while, his voice soft. "I'm glad we did this. I feel like I can actually think when I'm here."
Georgie nodded, her hand reaching out to squeeze his. "Me too. It's nice to just... be with you. No distractions."
Morgan smiled, leaning in to press a soft kiss to her forehead. "This is just the beginning, you know. We're gonna figure this out, you and me."
Georgie smiled, her heart full. "I know we will."
That weekend away gave them something they hadn't had in months—time. Time to be together, to laugh, to talk, to explore what they wanted from each other. And as they packed up to head back to Nashville, Georgie knew one thing for certain: whatever came next, they would face it together.
For now, though, they would keep their relationship private. It was too new, too precious to share with the world just yet. And while the rumors might continue to swirl, Georgie and Morgan were content to let them. They knew what they had, and that was enough.
As they drove away from the cabin, Morgan reached over to take Georgie's hand, his thumb gently tracing circles on the back of her palm.
"Best first date ever?" he asked, grinning.
Georgie laughed, leaning her head back against the seat. "Definitely. Think we can top it?"
Morgan chuckled, his eyes shining with affection. "Oh, I think we'll find a way."
