Georgie had been riding high on the success of her world tour. Every show had been bigger and more electric than the last. But today, something felt different. As she sat in her dressing room, preparing for another pre-show interview, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
It had been weeks since she and Morgan had seen each other in person. Their nightly Facetime calls and constant texts had kept them connected, but with both of them on separate tours, the distance between them felt heavier than usual. Still, she had trusted him. She had no reason not to.
At least, until now.
The interview had been going smoothly—questions about her album, her excitement for the Australian leg of the tour, and the usual buzz about her rise to stardom. But then, the interviewer dropped a bombshell she hadn't seen coming.
"So, Georgie," the interviewer said with a curious smile, "there's been a lot of speculation online about Morgan lately. Have you heard anything about the rumors?"
Georgie blinked, caught completely off guard. "Rumors?" she repeated, trying to hide her surprise. "What do you mean?"
The interviewer shifted in her chair, sensing that Georgie genuinely didn't know. "Well, there have been some photos going around—of Morgan with a mystery woman. People have spotted her at a few of his shows, and fans are starting to speculate about who she is."
Georgie's stomach twisted as the words sank in. "A mystery woman?" Her voice was steady, but she felt her heart rate pick up.
"Yeah, there have been some photos circulating on social media. She's been seen backstage with him a few times. Some outlets are suggesting that there's more going on between them, but of course, it's all just speculation at this point."
Georgie forced a smile, but her mind was spinning. "I hadn't heard that," she said, her throat tightening. "But, you know, people love to make up stories. I'm sure it's nothing."
The interviewer nodded, clearly picking up on Georgie's discomfort. "Of course. These things tend to blow over. I'm sure there's no truth to it."
Georgie managed to keep her composure until the interview ended, but as soon as she was alone in her dressing room, the facade crumbled. Her hands shook as she reached for her phone, scrolling through social media to find the photos the interviewer had mentioned.
It didn't take long to find them.
There they were—photos of Morgan and a woman she didn't recognize. The images weren't scandalous, but the woman was standing close to him in a few shots, her hand on his arm in one photo, the two of them laughing together in another. The headlines speculated wildly about their relationship, with fans fueling the rumors.
Georgie's heart sank. She wanted to believe that it was all innocent, that this woman was just part of Morgan's tour crew. But the doubt had already crept in, worming its way into her mind.
Why hadn't Morgan told her about this? Why had she found out through an interview, instead of from him?
She stared at the photos, her chest tight with a mixture of confusion and hurt. Morgan had never given her a reason to doubt him before, but with the distance between them—both physically and emotionally—it was hard to shake the uneasy feeling growing in the pit of her stomach.
She wanted to call him. She wanted to ask him what was going on, to hear his voice tell her that it was nothing, that there was no need to worry. But at the same time, part of her wasn't ready for the conversation. What if there was something to it? What if her worst fears were true?
Instead of reaching out, Georgie shoved her phone into her bag, trying to push the thoughts out of her mind. She had a show to perform tonight—her fans were waiting for her, and she couldn't let them down. But the weight of the rumors clung to her, refusing to let go.
