The evening air was cool and calm as the sun dipped behind the hills surrounding their farmhouse, casting the sky in a wash of pink and gold. Georgie stood on the back porch, staring out at the peaceful fields that stretched into the horizon. The day had been full of laughter and pranks, a perfect celebration of their two years together, but as the day wound down, she felt a quiet contentment settle over her.
Morgan had been inside for a while, telling her he had something special planned to cap off the night. She smiled to herself, curious about what he could be up to. They always tried to outdo each other with their surprises, but this time, it felt like whatever he was planning was different.
After a few minutes, the screen door creaked open, and Morgan stepped out, carrying his guitar. His face was softer than usual, a mixture of nervousness and excitement in his eyes.
"Hey, darlin'," he said, walking over to her. "I've got a little something for you."
Georgie raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "Oh yeah? What is it?"
Morgan took a deep breath, sitting down on the porch swing and motioning for her to join him. She sat beside him, tucking her legs under her as he adjusted the guitar on his lap.
"So, I've been thinking," he began, strumming a few quiet chords. "It's been two years, and I wanted to do something special for you. I wrote you a song. Just for you. I've never played it for anyone, and I figured tonight was the right time."
Georgie's heart skipped a beat. Morgan's songs had always meant the world to her, but knowing he had written one just for her made the moment even more intimate. She watched him closely as he strummed the opening notes, his eyes focused on the strings.
Morgan's Song:
"You came into my life like a warm breeze,
Turned my world around with just a look.
Every day with you's been a new dream,
You're the best page in my storybook."His voice was soft, the emotion behind every word shining through as he sang to her. Georgie felt a lump form in her throat as she listened, her heart swelling with every line. It wasn't just the words—it was the way he looked at her, the way his voice wavered slightly, as if he was feeling every note as deeply as she was.
"We've had our laughs, we've had our cries,
But through it all, you're by my side.
I wouldn't change a thing we've done,
'Cause loving you has just begun."Tears brimmed in Georgie's eyes as Morgan continued, his voice steady and true.
"So here's to the years that lie ahead,
To the love that we've both found.
You and me, darlin', we're far from done,
We're just getting started now."He strummed the final chord, his eyes meeting hers, and in that moment, Georgie felt more loved than she ever had. The song wasn't just a gift—it was a promise. A promise that their love, their journey, was far from over.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she smiled at him, her heart too full for words. "Morgan... that was beautiful. I don't know what to say."
Morgan set the guitar down, his own eyes a little misty as he took her hands in his. "You don't have to say anything. I just wanted you to know how much you mean to me. These two years... they've been the best of my life, Georgie."
Georgie leaned in, resting her forehead against his. "You've given me everything, Morgan. I can't even imagine my life without you."
For a few moments, they sat in comfortable silence, the weight of their feelings settling between them. But eventually, Georgie spoke again, her voice soft. "What do you think comes next for us?"
Morgan pulled back slightly, searching her eyes. "You mean, like... the future?"
"Yeah," she nodded, her hands still resting in his. "I mean, we've been through so much together, and I know we love each other... but what do you want? For us?"
Morgan smiled, his thumb gently brushing the back of her hand. "Honestly? I want more of this. I want us to keep building our life together. I want to keep making music, keep making memories. And I want to do it all with you by my side."
Georgie felt her heart swell even more. "Me too. I just... I want to make sure we're on the same page, you know? I'm so happy with where we are right now, but I can't help thinking about what comes next. Maybe it's more music, maybe it's... more than that."
Morgan's smile grew softer. "Are you thinking about... family?"
Georgie paused, her eyes meeting his, and then she nodded slowly. "Yeah. Not now, but... someday. I think about it sometimes. I think about what it would be like to have a family with you."
Morgan's expression softened even more as he gently cupped her face. "I think about that too, Georgie. I know we've got a lot going on, but when the time's right... I'd love that."
They sat in the quiet, the night air surrounding them as they both reflected on the future they wanted to build together. For now, they were content with the love they had and the life they were creating, but knowing that there was more to come—that they both wanted the same things—made the moment even more special.
The stars were beginning to peek out above them, and Morgan gently kissed her forehead. "We've got time, Georgie. We've got all the time in the world to figure it out."
Georgie smiled, leaning into him. "Yeah. I like the sound of that."
