The days had grown quieter in Gatlinburg, each one blending into the next as Georgie spent as much time as she could with her dad. The moments were bittersweet, filled with laughter, old stories, and the constant undercurrent of knowing their time together was limited.
One afternoon, as the sun cast golden rays through the window, Georgie sat beside her dad's chair, her hand gently resting on his. Hank's voice was weaker now, but his eyes were still full of life as he looked at his daughter.
"Georgie," he started, his voice rough but steady. "I need to talk to you."
Georgie looked up, her heart already tightening. "What is it, Daddy?"
Hank smiled softly, reaching for her hand. "I know you've been staying here with us, putting your career on hold for me. And I can't tell you how much that means. But I need you to promise me something."
Georgie nodded, her throat already tight with emotion. "Anything."
"I need you to keep singing," Hank said, his eyes locking with hers. "I don't care how hard things get, or how much it hurts, you have to keep going. This... this music, it's in you. It's what you were born to do."
Tears filled Georgie's eyes as she listened to his words. "I don't want to do it without you, Daddy."
Hank squeezed her hand gently. "You'll never be without me, baby girl. I'll be with you in every song you sing. Every note you play. I'll be right there."
Georgie broke down then, unable to hold back the tears. She leaned her head against her dad's arm, sobbing quietly. "I don't know how to keep going without you."
"You can," Hank whispered, his voice filled with the same strength she had always known him to have. "And you will. I want you to write about this—about us. About love and family. Promise me you'll keep writing, Georgie."
Georgie sat up, wiping her tears and nodding through the emotion that gripped her. "I promise."
Later that night, after her dad had fallen asleep, Georgie sat alone in the quiet of the house. His words echoed in her mind, and for the first time in weeks, she felt the pull to write. It wasn't an escape—it was the only way she knew how to process what was happening.
Sitting at the small desk in the guest room, Georgie picked up her guitar and began to strum softly, her fingers moving instinctively across the strings. The melody came easily, like it had been waiting inside her, ready to spill out. And as the music filled the room, the words began to form.
The song was a tribute to her father, to the love they shared, and to the bond that would last long after he was gone. It was simple, heartfelt, and pure—a reflection of the relationship they had built over the years.
"Daddy's Love"
By Georgie DayVerse 1:
You held my hand on my first day
Taught me how to chase the rain away
With every step, you were right there
Showing me the way, showing me you caredChorus:
Daddy's love is forever, never fades, never breaks
It's the light in the dark, the hope when my heart aches
You're the song in my soul, the strength that gets me through
I'll carry you with me, no matter what I do
Daddy's love, it's always with meVerse 2:
You told me to chase my dreams, never give up
When the road got tough, you said, "Keep your chin up"
Now I'm standing on this stage, feeling so alive
Because of you, I know I'll always surviveChorus:
Daddy's love is forever, never fades, never breaks
It's the light in the dark, the hope when my heart aches
You're the song in my soul, the strength that gets me through
I'll carry you with me, no matter what I do
Daddy's love, it's always with me
