She went inside the room and saw her husband sleeping on the bed. She wanted to talk to him but didn't have the heart to wake him. Nithya took her medicines on an empty stomach just for the sake of the baby and went straight to the bed. Seeing her husband sleeping peacefully, she closed her eyes, trying to sleep.

At midnight, around 12:30 AM, she suddenly felt a kick in her belly. Realizing she was starting to feel the baby's movements, she smiled and glanced at her husband, who was snoring on the side of the bed. Nithya took his hand and placed it on her belly, hoping he could feel what she felt. Watching her careless husband made her feel more desperate. Tears filled her eyes as she lay down, telling herself it would all be fine one day.

Nithya woke up early in the morning, took a bath, and went straight to the kitchen. She started preparing breakfast for her family. After setting the dishes on the dining table, she waited for her husband, but after a long time, one of the servants informed her that Aditya had left the house early. She wanted to ask him to accompany her to the hospital for her monthly checkup, but her expectations always ended up hurting her.

Taking an apple and a water bottle, Nithya decided to skip breakfast since she felt nauseous. It was her monthly checkup, and she had hoped Aditya would come with her. Since he had left early, she expected at least her mother-in-law could accompany her. However, her mother-in-law was still lying in bed, waiting for her coffee. Nithya took the coffee and went into her mother-in-law's bedroom, handing it to her. She asked if she could join her for the hospital visit, but her mother-in-law feigned illness. Understanding her mother-in-law's routine, Nithya left the room with tears in her eyes. She took her bag and left for the hospital alone, as usual.

After arriving at the hospital, she sat in the waiting area, watching the other pregnant women with their husbands beside them. "I wish Aditya were here. Why do they hate me so much? What have I done to earn their disdain?" she said to herself, a lone tear escaping her eye. When her name was called by the nurse, she stood up, wiping her tears, but suddenly felt dizzy. Her head swirled, and she staggered backward before collapsing on the floor. The nurses quickly took her to critical care.

One of the nurses grabbed her mobile phone from her bag and called her husband, Aditya. After a few rings, he answered. He rushed to the hospital after receiving the call from the nurse, feeling restless. Even though he didn't love his wife, he was terrified for his baby's health. All his bottled-up emotions came pouring out in the form of tears. Upon reaching the hospital, he inquired about the maternity ward at the reception and hurried toward it frantically. He rushed to the doctor, who explained Nithya's condition: she was very weak, anemic, and showing signs of depression. If she wasn't taken care of properly, it would be difficult for her to continue the pregnancy. A wave of guilt hit him hard, he feared he might lose his own child because of his arrogance. As he looked around the ward, he saw other pregnant women with their husbands and felt a pang in his heart, realizing how he had treated Nithya. He decided he would treat her well, at least until the delivery.

Entering the room, he saw his unconscious wife, looking pale and weak. That's when he noticed how much weight she had lost during the pregnancy, her jawline and collarbones were clearly visible now. Once, she had been a cute and chubby girl, but not anymore.

He knew he was responsible for her broken state. He knows how to treat women with respect and how to care for a pregnant woman. He knew that pregnant women have cravings for food and need a happy environment to have a healthy baby, yet he had left her alone.

He recalled the day when his brother and sister-in-law revealed their pregnancy to the family, witnessing how his brother took care of her throughout. He remembered how she would trouble him with her unusual cravings, even dragging him to an ice cream parlor at midnight because she wanted ice cream.

But here, he hadn't even known whether Nithya was eating on time, let alone what her cravings were. He realized how irresponsible he had been toward the mother of his child. The memories of that day when she revealed her pregnancy to him flooded back...
