Nithya received the baby from the nurse, gazing at him intently. She felt a surge of pride for creating such a beautiful little being. With a smile on her lips and tears in her eyes, she admired her son. He looked just like a mini version of Adhitya, and suddenly Nithya felt a pang of sadness. She had carried him for nine months, yet he resembled his father so closely, almost a spitting image.
Just as she was lost in the moment, he began to cry. Nithya looked at the nurse, worry etched on her face, unsure of what to do. The nurse reassured her, saying, "Don't panic. The baby is probably hungry. I'll show you how to feed him." Turning to the others, she added, "Privacy, please." Everyone, including Adhitya, stepped out of the room. The nurse guided Nithya through the feeding process, sharing important do's and don'ts. Nithya listened attentively and asked a few questions, which the nurse answered patiently before leaving the room, handing the baby back to her.
That evening, Sri and Nithya's grandmother were with her in the hospital, while Adhitya sat outside the room. Just then, Prem arrived and asked Adhitya about Nithya. Adhitya took him into the room, where the baby was sleeping in the crib and Nithya was resting with her eyes closed. Hearing Prem's voice, Nithya opened her eyes and tried to sit up, but Prem gently said, "Take rest, Nithya." He moved closer to the crib and smiled at the baby, recalling the day he first held Nithya in his arms. Adhitya stood beside Prem, captivated by his son's beauty.
After a moment, they left the room and headed to the hospital canteen, taking a seat in a corner. Prem looked at Adhitya and asked, "What are you going to do now? You have a son, are you still going to treat his mother like a shit?" Adhitya lowered his head and took a deep breath. When he lifted his gaze to meet Prem's eyes, he asked, "Prem, will you help me?"
"It depends. Tell me," Prem replied.
Adhitya hesitated before saying, "Prem, I'm leaving for London. I won't be back soon. I'll handle the business from there. If my presence is needed, I'll put you in charge. Please, will you manage things in my absence?"
Prem was shocked by Adhitya's decision. "Adhi, you just had a baby. Are you really going to leave your son? I know you have issues with Nithya, but I didn't expect you to turn your back on your own blood and your responsibilities."
Adhitya was taken aback by Prem's words. "Shut up, Prem! I love him with my whole heart, he is my blood. How could I ever hate him?"
"Then what's the need to leave now?" Prem pressed.
"Prem, after everything I've done to Nithya, I know she doesn't deserve me. I want to give her the freedom she deserves. I don't want a family bound by obligation, it should be based on love. That's why I've decided to leave. If Nithya decides to give me a second chance and believes our child needs a father, I'll come back the moment she calls. Until then, I won't disturb them. whatever the decision she takes, I'll take it," he said, tears welling in his eyes.
Prem felt a deep sadness seeing Adhitya in this state. Leaving a newborn and walking away from his family was no easy decision, but perhaps this break could lead to a better understanding and, ultimately, bring them closer together.
"Okay, Adhi, I'll help you, but it's not for you-it's for Nithya, because she deserves a better life," said Prem.
"And Prem, I need you to do something for me," Adhitya asked.
"What is it?" Prem replied, curious.
"Please take care of Nithya and my son. Give me updates about them, send me their photos and videos. Will you do that for me?" Adhitya asked, hope shining in his eyes.
Prem held his hands and nodded. "Of course."
"Prem, don't tell anyone about this. Let them think I'm leaving for business and will be back in a few days," Adhitya urged.
"Why?" asked Prem.
"If they knew I'm not coming back, they would try to convince me otherwise, and I don't want that drama. Just keep this between us, okay?" Adhitya said.
Prem looked at him with pity, hoping that Nithya would give Adhitya a second chance. At the same time he also thought he deserved this punishment for treating Nithya badly.
"When are you planning to leave?" Prem asked Adhitya.
"Tomorrow morning. I have a flight in the evening," Adhitya replied. After finishing their coffee, both men headed to the ward.
As they entered the room, Adhitya asked his grandmother and Sri to leave, assuring them that he would take care of Nithya and the baby that night. Prem encouraged them to go home, knowing this was the last night Adhitya would spend with his son and wanting to give them some alone time.
Sri insisted on staying with Nithya, thinking she might need something, but Prem assured her that Adhitya would handle it. Nithya didn't protest, she understood that it wouldn't be comfortable for her grandmother to sleep in the hospital, and Sri was exhausted after being there for so long and also had to care for Diya.
Once everyone had left, Adhitya was about to sit in the chair near Nithya when his son began to cry. He went to the crib, picked up the baby, and tried to console him, but it wasn't working.
"He must be hungry," Nithya said.
"Oh, okay," Adhitya replied, walking toward Nithya to hand her the baby. She took him from his arms and paused, expecting him to step back and give her some privacy, but he stood there, oblivious.
"Can you wait outside?" Nithya said, not looking at him.
In that moment, it struck Adhitya that she was going to feed the baby. He quickly left the room, saying, "Sorry."
