The next day started off as any other in the office. Jungkook entered with his usual bright smile, determined to keep up his mission of breaking through Taehyung's cold, impenetrable exterior. He greeted everyone as he walked in, his cheerful attitude radiating across the quiet space.

As Jungkook settled into his desk, his phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at the screen and saw it was from Jimin.

Jimin: "Got some time for lunch today? Haven't seen you in a while, and I need a break from this case."

Jungkook's smile widened. Jimin was his best friend, and catching up with him was always a highlight. He quickly typed a response.

Jungkook: "I'm free! Let's meet at noon. Same spot?"

He was so engrossed in his conversation that he didn't notice the slight narrowing of Taehyung's eyes from across the room as he watched Jungkook texting. Taehyung's gaze flickered briefly to Jungkook's face, then back to his phone, the smallest crease appearing between his brows. He couldn't hear the conversation, but he didn't like the way Jungkook was smiling so widely at his screen.

---

By noon, Jungkook grabbed his things and stood up, ready to head out for his lunch with Jimin. "Mr. Kim, I'm taking my lunch break now. I'll be back in an hour," he said cheerfully.

Taehyung barely looked up from his work. "Don't be late."

Jungkook grinned, throwing a casual wave over his shoulder as he headed out. "I won't!"

The door closed softly behind him, and Taehyung's fingers stilled on his keyboard. His eyes flickered to the door. For some reason, knowing Jungkook was meeting someone, someone who clearly made him smile like that, unsettled him. He frowned, his irritation creeping up on him without understanding why.

---

Lunch with Jimin was as fun as ever. They talked, laughed, and reminisced about old times, their bond as strong as ever. Jimin teased Jungkook relentlessly about his new job, but Jungkook didn't mind. It was nice to let loose for a while.

"Seriously, though," Jimin said between bites of food, "you've got that cold CEO all figured out yet?"

Jungkook chuckled, shaking his head. "He's... impossible. But I'm making progress, I think. Slowly. He doesn't talk much, but there's definitely something behind that icy façade."

Jimin leaned in, smirking. "Let me guess-you're the sunshine breaking through the storm clouds?"

"Something like that," Jungkook replied with a playful wink.

They laughed again, unaware of how their lunch was about to stir something far more serious in the cold, calculating mind of Taehyung.

---

When Jungkook returned to the office, it felt different. The air was tense, almost electric. Taehyung was already back at his desk, but there was a sharpness in his eyes, an edge that hadn't been there before. Jungkook noticed it right away, but he shrugged it off. Maybe Taehyung was just having one of his brooding days.

As he sat down at his desk, Taehyung's voice cut through the air like a knife.

"Had a good lunch?"

Jungkook looked up, surprised. It wasn't often that Taehyung initiated conversations-especially not about something so casual.
