The next morning arrived quietly, but the air was thick with tension. Taehyung and Jungkook, after spending a strange day in Paris together, now found themselves back in their professional roles, preparing for a crucial client meeting. The previous day's fleeting moments of warmth and accidental touches hung in the background, unspoken but ever-present.

Jungkook meticulously straightened his tie, his sharp black suit in place as he mentally ran through the presentation. He couldn't shake off the strange energy between him and Taehyung, but today, there was no room for distractions. He focused on the task at hand, determined not to let the subtle friction interfere. Taehyung, meanwhile, had grown quieter, the cold edge of his usual demeanor sliding back into place as they neared the business part of their trip.

They entered the luxurious office, where their client, Lucas, a charismatic young man, greeted them with an enthusiastic smile.

"Mr. Kim, Mr. Jeon, it's a pleasure!" Lucas said, shaking both their hands, though his grip lingered a little longer on Jungkook's, his smile just a little too warm.

Jungkook smiled politely, not noticing how Taehyung's jaw tensed. Lucas was charming, his compliments flowing easily-directed almost exclusively at Jungkook. He praised Jungkook's ideas, his attention to detail, even his appearance. There was an undercurrent in Lucas' tone that Jungkook didn't seem to pick up on, but Taehyung did. Every lean toward Jungkook, every smile in his direction, made something twist uncomfortably in Taehyung's chest.

Jealousy. It gnawed at him, unfamiliar and unwelcome.

As the meeting wrapped up, Lucas offered a suggestion. "How about we continue this conversation over dinner tonight? I'd love to hear more of your thoughts, Mr. Jeon," he said, his eyes lingering on Jungkook.

Before Jungkook could respond, Taehyung stood abruptly. "That won't be necessary," he said, his tone cold and final. "We've covered enough for today."

Lucas blinked, clearly taken aback. "I see... Well, the offer stands," he said, but Taehyung was already heading for the door.

Jungkook hurried to thank Lucas before following Taehyung out of the office. He caught up with him in the hallway, his confusion quickly turning to irritation. Taehyung had been off all morning, but this was too much.

"What was that about?" Jungkook asked, keeping pace with Taehyung's long strides.

Taehyung didn't respond, his face set in stone as he made his way toward the elevator.

Jungkook frowned, trying to keep his frustration in check. "Mr. Kim," he began, opting for formality, "why did you cut the meeting short? We hadn't finished."

At that, Taehyung stopped suddenly, turning to face Jungkook. His eyes flashed with something fierce-jealousy, frustration, something deeper that Jungkook couldn't quite name.

"Why do you care so much?" Taehyung bit out, his voice sharper than intended. "Do you enjoy the attention? Is that it?"

Jungkook blinked, stunned by the accusation. "What? No! I was just doing my job."

"Your job?" Taehyung's voice rose with anger, and before Jungkook could react, Taehyung grabbed his arm, dragging him into a nearby empty room. The door slammed behind them, and the silence that followed was thick with tension.
