Taehyung woke to the early morning light streaming through the sheer curtains of his hotel room, the soft glow making everything feel calm and almost dreamlike. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the peaceful stillness around him. The room was quiet, save for the occasional distant sounds of the city awakening beyond the window. His eyes lazily shifted to the clock on his bedside table. 7:45 a.m.

With a sigh, he rubbed the sleep from his eyes and began to sit up when something unusual caught his attention. Across the room, Jungkook was still fast asleep on the bed adjacent to his. It wasn't the first time they'd shared a room-traveling together for work meant this happened more often than not-but this time, something was different.

Taehyung froze, eyes settling on Jungkook's sleeping form. The serene expression on Jungkook's face, relaxed and unguarded, was a stark contrast to the composed, professional mask he wore during their working hours. For a moment, Taehyung found himself completely captivated, unable to tear his gaze away. The way Jungkook's chest rose and fell with each breath, the gentle parting of his lips, and the soft, barely audible sound of his breathing all seemed to wrap Taehyung in a strange stillness.

His hair, a bit tousled from sleep, framed his face delicately, giving him a softness that Taehyung had never noticed before. He wasn't supposed to notice these things-Jungkook was his secretary, after all. But right now, Taehyung couldn't help it.

How can someone look this... angelic while sleeping? The thought slid unbidden into his mind, and for once, he didn't push it away.

He found himself slipping deeper into his own thoughts, watching Jungkook for what felt like only a second but turned out to be much longer. A strange flutter in his chest caught him off guard-a feeling he hadn't experienced in years, maybe ever. It was... disarming.

What is happening to me? He shook his head lightly, trying to snap himself out of it, but it wasn't until Jungkook began to stir that Taehyung was truly jolted back to reality. Jungkook shifted beneath the covers, stretching languidly like a cat, his arm draping over his head as he blinked his eyes open slowly. He glanced around the room, his eyes still heavy with sleep.

Taehyung's heart raced as he quickly averted his eyes, his usual stoic mask falling back into place. His gaze flicked to the clock. 8:00 a.m.

Fifteen minutes?! Did I really just stare at him for fifteen minutes?

He ran a hand through his hair, trying to regain his composure. Jungkook, oblivious to the tension Taehyung was wrestling with, sat up groggily, his movements sluggish as if he were still half asleep. His clothes-wrinkled from the previous night-hung loosely on him, the shirt untucked and rumpled. He looked up, squinting as if trying to remember where he was.

"Good morning, Mr. Kim," Jungkook mumbled, his voice husky from sleep.

Taehyung cleared his throat, forcing his face into a neutral expression as he checked his phone, doing his best to act unaffected. "Good morning," he replied, his voice even. "I'm going to take a shower."

Without waiting for a response, Taehyung quickly stood and headed to the bathroom, the distance between him and Jungkook feeling necessary at that moment. As soon as the door closed behind him, he let out a shaky breath. Leaning against the sink, he stared at his reflection in the mirror, feeling unnerved by the rush of emotions he couldn't quite place.
