The early morning light poured into Jungkook’s room, gently rousing him from sleep. With a quiet yawn, he stretched his arms and welcomed the day. Memories of the previous night’s conversation with Taehyung lingered in his mind, leaving him with an unexpected warmth. Taehyung’s apology had felt genuine, and for the first time in a long while, Jungkook wondered if they could truly put their misunderstandings behind them and start anew.

After a quick shower, Jungkook dressed in a well-fitted navy suit, smoothing out the fabric as he looked himself over in the mirror. He’d chosen something simple yet refined, perfectly capturing the blend of professionalism and confidence he wanted to exude today.

Downstairs, he was greeted by the scent of freshly brewed tea. His mother’s gentle laughter drifted from the dining room, and as he entered, he was surprised to see Taehyung sitting across from her, deep in conversation.

“Good morning, Jungkookie,” his mother beamed, patting the seat beside her. “Taehyung was just sharing some of his company’s new plans. Isn’t he ambitious?”

Jungkook exchanged an amused glance with Taehyung. “I didn’t realize you were trying to win over my mother too, Taehyung.”

Taehyung grinned, the playfulness in his eyes unmistakable. “Only the best for you and your family.”

The three of them shared a light moment, laughter weaving warmth into the quiet morning. Jungkook, feeling unexpectedly at ease, finished breakfast quickly, and soon enough, he and Taehyung were heading out together for work.

As they walked into the office building side by side, Jungkook couldn’t help but notice the surprise in his colleagues’ expressions. It wasn’t every day that he and Taehyung arrived together. The whispers followed them, yet Taehyung seemed unbothered, walking with his usual calm and collected demeanor. Jungkook leaned over slightly, keeping his voice low.

“We’re definitely turning heads.”

“Let them look,” Taehyung replied, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips. “I’m here with you, and that’s all that matters.”

Jungkook felt a surge of warmth at Taehyung’s words, surprised by how much they resonated with him. They parted ways to their respective offices, yet that lingering warmth stayed with Jungkook, bolstering his spirits as he settled into his day’s work.

A few hours later, a soft knock at his door pulled him from his focus. Glancing up, he saw one of the employees standing hesitantly in the doorway.

“Sir, there’s someone here asking to meet with you.”

Curious, Jungkook nodded and followed the employee to the waiting area. As he turned the corner, his breath caught—standing there with an unmistakable air of confidence was the woman he’d seen with Taehyung the previous night.

Masking his surprise, he approached her calmly. “Is there something I can help you with?”

The woman’s smirk was almost taunting. “Just thought I’d introduce myself properly. I’m Sohee.”

“Nice to meet you, Sohee,” he replied evenly, his voice guarded. “Is there a reason you wanted to see me?”

“Oh, nothing too serious,” she said, her tone sweet but her gaze sharp. “Taehyung and I go way back, you see. I just thought it’d be polite for you to know a bit about his past.”

Jungkook’s expression remained unreadable, though his thoughts churned beneath the surface. He forced a polite nod. “If that’s all, I have work to return to.”

Without waiting for a response, he turned and strode back to his office, his mind a swirl of emotions. Taehyung had mentioned an ex, but why hadn’t he mentioned her name? And what was the story behind their relationship?

Jungkook’s afternoon slipped by in a haze, Sohee’s smug expression intruding on his thoughts. Though he tried to focus, the questions kept building. By late afternoon, a dull ache began to pulse behind his eyes, and he decided to call it a day.

As he gathered his things, Taehyung appeared at his door, his brows furrowed in concern. “You alright?”

“Just a bit of a headache. I think some rest will help.”

Though reluctant, Taehyung respected his decision, insisting that one of his drivers take him home. Jungkook agreed, appreciating the thoughtfulness, and soon he was in the car, relaxing against the seat as it moved through the evening traffic.

The steady hum of the engine was almost soothing, and Jungkook closed his eyes, hoping to ease the tension in his head. But his moment of peace was cut short when the car jerked to a sudden halt, jolting him upright.

“What’s going on?” he asked, alarmed.

The driver glanced back, his voice low and tense. “Stay inside, sir. I’ll see what’s happening.”

Jungkook watched as the driver stepped out, approaching a group of men who had formed a barricade on the road. Their conversation was hushed but intense, and Jungkook’s unease grew with every passing second.

He reached for his phone, intending to call Taehyung, but before he could dial, the car door was wrenched open. Rough hands grabbed him, pulling him out with a force that left him gasping.

“Let go of me!” he shouted, struggling against the men holding him. But his captors were strong, their grip unyielding as they dragged him toward a nearby vehicle. A hand clamped over his mouth, muffling his cries as he was forced into the car.

Panic surged within him as he realized the severity of his situation. As the car sped off, he caught a last, fleeting glimpse of the familiar cityscape before the shadows closed in, leaving him surrounded by strangers and swallowed by the unknown.
