Jungkook’s second day at Kim Corporation began with a burst of enthusiasm. Despite his exhaustion from the previous day, he woke up early, eager to face the challenges ahead. Today, he was determined to impress his boss even more and show that he was more than just a cute, clumsy newbie.

---

As Jungkook arrived at the office, he was greeted by the usual cold glare of the building's interior. His high spirits never wavered, though, and he eagerly made his way to his desk. He had already planned a series of small but thoughtful gestures to make his job easier and hopefully win Taehyung's approval.

He began by organizing Taehyung’s desk in a way he thought might be more visually pleasing. Jungkook moved the stacks of papers and files into neatly labeled folders, arranged according to color-coded priority. He even placed a small potted plant on the corner of Taehyung’s desk, a little touch of greenery to brighten up the office.

When he was finished, he stood back and admired his work with a satisfied nod. "Perfect!" he whispered to himself.

The day started off relatively smoothly. Jungkook navigated through Taehyung’s busy schedule, scheduling meetings, organizing documents, and even running a few errands. Despite his best efforts, however, he couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that something would inevitably go wrong.

Around mid-morning, Jungkook’s fears were realized. As he carried a stack of important documents to Taehyung’s office, he stumbled over his own feet, sending papers flying everywhere. The entire stack scattered across the hallway like autumn leaves in a gust of wind.

Jungkook fell to his knees, desperately trying to gather the documents, his cheeks burning with embarrassment. "No, no, no! Why does this always happen to me?" he muttered, frantically picking up the papers.

Just as he was about to recover the last of the scattered documents, Taehyung appeared, his sharp eyes scanning the mess. He stopped short, raising an eyebrow at the chaotic scene unfolding before him. His gaze then landed on Jungkook, who was now a flurry of panic and apologies.

"What’s going on here?" Taehyung’s voice was a mix of irritation and curiosity.

Jungkook looked up, his face flushed. "I’m so sorry, Mr. Kim! I tripped and—"

Taehyung cut him off with a sigh, walking over to help gather the papers. "You need to be more careful. This is a professional environment, not a circus.".

Rude

Jungkook’s shoulders slumped, but he quickly got to his feet and dusted off his pants. "I know, I know. I’m really sorry. I’ll be more careful."

Taehyung remained stoic as he helped pick up the documents, but there was a hint of a frown on his face. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, but don’t let it get in the way of doing your job properly."

Jungkook nodded vigorously. "Understood. I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again."

---

The rest of the morning was a mix of nervous anticipation and frantic activity. Jungkook tried his best to stay on top of everything, determined not to make any more mistakes. Around lunchtime, he decided to make a small gesture to lighten the mood and hopefully redeem himself.

He went to a nearby bakery and picked up a box of assorted pastries. Jungkook had noticed that Taehyung hardly ever took breaks, and he thought a little treat might brighten his boss’s day. With the box in hand, he returned to the office, determined to make a good impression.

As he entered the office with the box of pastries, Jungkook saw Taehyung sitting at his desk, his gaze fixed intently on his computer screen. Jungkook approached with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Mr. Kim," Jungkook said cheerfully, "I brought you something."

Taehyung looked up, his expression unreadable. "What is it?"

Jungkook opened the box, revealing an assortment of freshly baked pastries. "It’s from the bakery down the street. I thought you might like a little treat."

Taehyung’s gaze flickered briefly to the pastries before returning to Jungkook. "I don’t have time for sweets."

Jungkook’s smile faltered, but he persisted. "It’s just a small gesture, Mr. Kim. You work so hard. I thought it might be nice to take a little break and enjoy something."

Taehyung stared at him for a moment, clearly torn between his desire to remain aloof and the genuine effort Jungkook had put into this gesture. Finally, with a sigh, he reached into the box and took a pastry. "Fine. But only because I don’t want to hear you complain about it."

Jungkook’s face lit up with a triumphant smile. "Great! I hope you like it."

As Taehyung took a bite of the pastry, his eyes widened slightly in surprise. "This is… actually quite good."

Jungkook beamed, feeling a surge of happiness at Taehyung’s unexpected approval. "I’m glad you think so! I’ll make sure to bring more if you like."

Taehyung gave a curt nod, clearly not used to being so pleasantly surprised. "Let’s not make this a habit. I don’t want you to think you can buy my favor with pastries."

Jungkook chuckled, shaking his head. "Of course not. I just wanted to make your day a little brighter."

---

The afternoon was relatively calm, with fewer mishaps and more routine tasks. Jungkook felt more at ease, though he still occasionally glanced nervously at Taehyung, who remained as stoic as ever. Despite his earlier worries, he was starting to feel more comfortable in his role.

By the end of the day, Jungkook was exhausted but satisfied. He had managed to stay organized and keep up with Taehyung’s demanding schedule. As he packed up his things, he couldn’t help but reflect on how different this job was from what he had expected.

"Not bad for a second day," he mused to himself.

As he was about to leave, Taehyung walked out of his office, looking more relaxed than usual. He glanced over at Jungkook, who was still busying himself with tidying up.

"Mr. Jeon," Taehyung called out, his voice softer than usual.

Jungkook looked up, surprised. "Yes, Mr. Kim?"

"I wanted to thank you for today," Taehyung said, surprising Jungkook even further. "You managed to handle things quite well, despite the… mishaps."

Jungkook’s eyes widened in delight. "Thank you, Mr. Kim! I’m really glad you think so."

Taehyung gave a small, almost imperceptible nod. "Just remember, I expect you to keep up this level of performance."

Jungkook grinned, feeling a warm flutter in his chest. "I will! I promise."

As he left the office, Jungkook couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment. Despite the challenges and Taehyung’s initial coldness, he was beginning to find his place. And maybe, just maybe, there was a chance that his boss’s icy exterior would thaw a little bit—if only for the sake of his pastries.

With that hopeful thought, Jungkook walked out of the building, ready to face whatever the next day would bring.
